True, I can't understand why WoW has a large subscription and maybe because Blizzard has a large install base? Who knows! :3
About XIV, releasing it on both PC and PS3 would help SE to get more players since not all of them have a decent computer.
I played WoW for many years after after FFXI. What I see what all other new MMORPGs and WoW clones(To anyone else reading this: I'm not calling FFXIV a WoW clone!!!) failed to do is to include 25 man raiding. It's something difficult a lot of players work towards and feels great when you defeat a tough boss with many players. I recently played GW2 with my old WoW guild before that Panda expansion. They all left GW2 because the PVE dungeons were frustrating, buggy and not all members could join in.
FFXIV 2.0 will have 24 man raiding, so it's possible SE can actually take a fair chunk out of WoW if SE can make it play well and feels Epic. FFXIV has a far better story and graphics, all it really needs I think is the game play.

I have a lot of friends on ffXI who never joined in on XIV because they could not afford a PC good enough to run the game. I am glad that they'll be able to join the action on PS3, and I'm super excited to explore the new world with them.
FFFXI has had six "add-ons" so far that were delivered by download, but physical discs are still being pressed for Seekers of Adoulin. An "expansion pack" is something far bigger than "just" an add-on/DLC, something too big to realistically deliver by download to all interested customers.
Besides, you're assuming that PS3 access to PSN will continue indefinitely. Sony's main competitor, Microsoft, published no new downloadable content for the original Xbox after the release of the Xbox 360.
People who buy new consoles by definition have disposable income. Businesses follow the money. If the customers with money didn't abandon aging platforms (and publishers didn't follow them), there would have been no migration to the PS3 (or the PS2, or...) to begin with.if the custom is on PS3 they will stick to it how many companies do you know say "OK these 70 million potential customers don't matter, I want to focus everything on these 4 million people with more money than sense"
For the umpteenth time: what reason is there to believe that this "tipping point" won't be reached sooner rather than later?as long as they can justify the increased costs with subscriptions they will do this.
PS3 release: 2006It's very likely that the PS3 will continue to be supported for at least 3 years after the PS4 release,
Last FFXI PS2 disc release: 2007
First FFXI disc release with no PS2 disc: 2009
I'd say three years at best, with as little as one.
Fifteen pages and the OP still can't make a stable argument. I think we're done here.
Well im seeing many voices now who want to participate into PS3 Beta and waiting for it for so long.
I think the playerbase is huge who wamt to play it on PS3 in comparison to other MMorpgs because Final Fantasy is a franchise which is played at TV on a console.
PS3 released: 2006
PS2 manufactured until: 2012
we should be okay guys
doop doop
My argument is that, even if ARR itself succeeds overall, it may not last much more than a year on PS3. What's the point in getting the PS3 version if there's a good chance of it not getting any expansions?
Is the choice really "PC or PS3," or "PC now or PC in 2015?"
