NM Battles Fights and the end result

I just finished watching a bunch of videos on YouTube of pro groups fighting NM battles like Uraeus, Dodore, and Bloatbelly Goblin for example. Honestly, I'm not a loot whore, but doing a 15-30 minute fight and getting a piece of meat, an egg, or nothing at all, is completely unfair.

One of the basic foundations of any game is risk vs reward. With that much time, energy and all the things these groups do to kill an enemy, but they don't get anything significantly tangible is the biggest slap in the face I think for most gamers.

Yeah, the fights look quite fun and the memories are good. But look at how most of us are going to feel at the end of these fights...just like them. "No items..." "Didn't drop anything" are the same kinds of lines we'll have and a general air of disappointment. Hell, I'm disappointed for them and dispirited watching these videos.

I want to like this game. I love the FF franchise, stories, characters, monsters, ect. I've been patient but I'm coming to my limit soon. This is all too reminiscent of a lot of negative feelings I had for XI. I spent a great deal of time in that game but I never really got anything out of it. The end feeling is one of wishing I had gotten more out of the time I invested into it. I'm already starting to feel like that now. I don't want to go through that again.

If SE can't understand how to reward players properly for their time invested by the time PS3 and/or subscription plans resume; I'll find another game that does.

i dont think he means everything, dont take his post out of context.

generally i think mobs that have Hard and lengthy battles should always, or atleast most of the time give you something worth your while.

Take FFXI for example, Charybdis took a whole party or more to kill unless you were a specific subset of jobs. the risk of dying, and another party claiming it was high. But the Joyeuse dropped 100% off of it. that's risk vs reward.

Then take Leaping Lizzy, a relatively low monster, that's easily killed by nearly any job above level 10. Taking near no risk to kill, spawning very often, had a lousy drop rate on the Bounding boots, again, risk vs reward. Less risk, less time, less effort, less reward, and vice versa for high risk and high effort.

I agree with a very hard instances/NMs to be rewarding and not have crappy droprate, something along Pandemonium Warden difficulty during lv75 times.

although, the example OP put isnt exactly good. The current NMs was already a joke before the current patch and they were nerfed futher this patch, so no.. they arent epic or anyway hard.

but, yes in the future i'd hate to see something that takes really hardwork and multiple wipes attempts to have shitty droprate.

    "Risk vs Reward".

What "Risk" are we talking about exactly? The current NMs aren't that hard. They're pretty much accessible to everyone and repop often (which is great, mind you).
They have absolutely nothing to do with the endless camps/grind of FFXI.

i cant go on experience personally but the OP said he watched videos of a 15-30 minute fight with relatively good players. IF that's true i understand his point at not getting any drops, even if not 100% battles should atleast give a consolation prize(yagudo NMs in Oztroja Castle anyone? xD) if they're going to be that lengthy.

But i guess from what i hear elsewhere, they're not that hard, but i guess it certainly depends, ive also heard some of them arent exactly a walk in the park. atleast not solo anyway, as they are higher-rank NMs or something *shrug*

I think this is a good interpretation of my point. Thanks Z

No Visch, I don't expect an absolute, 100% drop of the exact item I expect to get. And please don't bring your attitude from previous threads like that. Just makes you look bad.

Chard. These fights do not look like a "joke" at all. They looked very serious and quite a lot of effort was put into them. At this point, before patching or anything, these monsters should be dropping something(s) of value imo. The time invested alone merits it.

You look bad for talking about something you have no experience in.

These NMs were jokes before April 14th now they're even bigger jokes. They repop about every hour and are always up on off times. It's a joke that is why everyone has dodore doublets and tricornes.
