Yeah I just think FF14 is slowly going further down hill.

As far as NM's go I loved the risk vs reward in FF11. Camping NM's was so FUN and exciting let alone when you claimed them utilizing different pop methods like placeholders with wide scan, subbing /bst for a quick charm or war for a voke.

Even though you can kill most NM's that were lower level in a few hits BUT the reward for it was amazing! High repop time low drop rate but epic loot. That's what this game needs.

Gear like Leaping Boots, Emp Pin, Monster Sigma, Rabit Charm, The INT belt from the Gobu, other great drops from BCNMs but it wasn't easily obtainable which is a good thing.

Once you had it you were special, you were unique, risk/time vs reward really paid off and it felt really damn good. This trait NEEDS to be in every MMO.. It's what a game is all about, invest time and get rewarded, just like RL... Ivnest time in your job and get paid. If you have to work your ass off for two weeks to get paid... at least it feels pretty damn good when you do.

I remener spending 34 Hours stairing at my screen camping the Valley's bow on an NM that had a 1-34 hour pop timer... Apparently I got the right after it was killed... Was the 34 hour wait dreadful? YES, did I enjoy it? YES why? Because competition, stategy, leveling THF for TH3, soloing the high level place holders with my well geared thf it was all fun. Having that "OMFG IS THAT IT!" thought run through your head when the placeholder pops at a spec time was a rush haha.

It finally popped and I claimed it. I got the drop 1/1... Was it worth it? Hell yeah. Was I significant? Fuck yeah I was! I was the highest DPS ranger/well geared one thoughout all my parties. Was the damage increase noticiable? Going from 1k sidewinders to 2-3k sidewinders... yes...

Is the gear even worth it in FF14 atm? Is it really that fun killing NMs taht respawn every few min? Dropping Items that are completely useless or make no drastic changes/alterations to your character what so ever? This patch is out and I still haven't logged in. I'm still waiting for SE to roll some lucky number 7's...

We killed NMs all day today. First of all the drop rates for some are abismally low. In 20 Cactuar Jack we got 2 helmets. Over 10 Prince of Pestilence to get two Seer's Cowls and we got only one Kakaroon's Chainmail today.

First there is usually competition so you need to claim. Then the fights take a while even with rank 50s. So the fast spawn time is actually a god-send since you will most probably need to kill a few to get what you want.

And yes some items are nice, since they add Magic Potency, Magic Accuracy, Attack and Accuracy. These stats actually do something at the moment so having some of the new items is really usefull.

We spent 5 hours today and did get a few items. It was tons of fun and just what the game needed imo. Of course there is better stuff on the way, just wish people would be happy with what they have for once.

Actually making unbalanced/overpowered gear available only to the ones willing to submit to utter boredom isn't exactly a solution to make a game better/more enjoyable. Quite the contrary.

Drop rates are fine with me, as Abriael said the fights aren't hard, the NMs do have a lot of HP so they do take a while to kill but most likeshells/groups realise that they are not going to get the drop they want, thats part the reason why you go back and try again.

As for the new mid ranged NM's they couldn't be better IMO, fast respawn and low drop rate is ideal for mid ranged untradeable armour.

Honestly The Drop rate is fine and the NMs are cake with Experienced players, how can anyone complain when everyone has NM items? you can Kill Ureaus 2 times in one hour, there are parties that kill him 4 times in two hour with 4 skins, you can kill most NMs twice in a 30 min span. idk why someone would think theyre hard when drops come easy can even 5 man NMs now since they nerfed it. Part of the excitement of NMs is the unexpected time to beat and Reward.

I think mostly what hes getting at is, If not drop the Uraeus Skin, at least drop a Peiste skin for someone 100% of the time. getting absolutely nothing for an extremely long fight is kinda crap.

NM fights and the end result : I think any fight where you team up with your team mates to fulfill a challenge can itself be a rewarding experience. I know many will disagree but the most fun I have is just fights with my linkshell. I don't expect drops to be 100% but I would not be opposed to a 50 - 75% drop rate so that more likely then not we'll get the drops we fight for. The fun of fighting something that requires a full party is a reward I like in itself.

I do not mind the droprate of the special items, that I find to be awesome. You aren't supposed to get something on the first kill. In case you did, there would be no reason to kill them more times than for the number of people in the group - which is not the idea of high-rank content in MMOs.

That being said, I mean that you should be awarded something at least.
Like yesterday when we killed the Goblin NM, he didn't even drop a single shard - which is rather stupid in my opinion.
There should be some kind of reward at leas.
Take for example Jackanapese. I've killled him two times, and no unique/rare item, but a Leather Jacket (Black) both times.
This is something that can be craftet by a rank 30 LWR, but it is nice to add it as a potential drop nevertheless, as it then gives an impression of a reward even if you don't get the Unique/Rare drop.

I also did two faction NMs yesterday, which costs 400 Faction Credits each, and they have a chance to drop items to trade in for rank 50 gear.
When the only reward from the chest is 5 earth crystals, you feel kinda played. Not saying it should be a 100 % drop for the r50 gear token, but considering the amount of time used to gather the faction credits, as well as getting a party together, doing the pre-quests etc, there should be something useful or that is difficult to obtain as a reward, not 5 crystals that are easly gathered - and which you most likely have loads of when you already are at rank 50.

The reward for the leve itself wasn't anything more than what you can get from a rank 40 leve from time to time.

I agree, the runestone rewards should have a bit higher drop rate. That's my only real gripe. The rest can be farmed quite fast without too much hassle.
