It's not raising the loot rate that makes you love the game.

What makes you love the game is the Adventure, Risks, Lore, World and Whatever. Not Loot.
I know this game doesn't have a Risk indicator (party with me if you want one =D). Maybe they're going to do something, like adding the fear of getting KO'd, or death penalties, or whatever.

For now, have fun killing the monsters/NMs. Don't kill for loot, as when you think about it you'll most likely NOT get it! Plan your strategies, make even more of them to be able to overcome monsters easier. Read the story about them and the world around you and become passionate,... That will let you like the game. Not Loot.

It's not that when you eat a papered potato with a stuffing of caviar you eat it just for the sake of being full, but for the delicacy of the taste, intense and deliciousness.

Guess you never camped LoO, raising the drop rate also lowers the value of a item. IMO having high drop rates would make items worthless.

One of the basic foundations of any game is risk vs reward. With that much time, energy and all the things these groups do to kill an enemy, but they don't get anything significantly tangible is the biggest slap in the face I think for most gamers.

Yeah, the fights look quite fun and the memories are good. But look at how most of us are going to feel at the end of these fights...just like them. "No items..." "Didn't drop anything" are the same kinds of lines we'll have and a general air of disappointment. Hell, I'm disappointed for them and dispirited watching these videos.

I want to like this game. I love the FF franchise, stories, characters, monsters, ect. I've been patient but I'm coming to my limit soon. This is all too reminiscent of a lot of negative feelings I had for XI. I spent a great deal of time in that game but I never really got anything out of it. The end feeling is one of wishing I had gotten more out of the time I invested into it. I'm already starting to feel like that now. I don't want to go through that again.

If SE can't understand how to reward players properly for their time invested by the time PS3 and/or subscription plans resume; I'll find another game that does.

    lol...

Personally I think it would be better design for bosses to consistently drop 1-2 weaker (but useable) gear-related rewards, and maybe have a rare item in its lootlist that keeps people wanting to keep revisiting that content.

30 minute fights? Some of them can be killed in like 5 mins with a couple of people if done correctly. Not really "pro groups". We did dodore three times within a single weather pop with 3-6 people. Soloing him can take about 30 mins.

Because you are suppose to kill it more than once... that is what makes it challenging and fun and the items rare. *sigh*

Again... the issue isn't that NMs aren't constantly dropping rare and coveted items. The problem is that they can drop items of almost no worth, any given time a dice is rolled. They should at least give something that constitutes more than a minute hedge against repair bills.

I don't have a problem with drop rates. Yes sometimes we fight Gobs, Uraeus, Buffalo, Dodore and end up with just a shard.. But if we have a look at all our fights, it evens out. Everyone in our LS has gotten what they need and way more.

I will have to disagree with your comparison to FFXI. NM "camping" (man it's not even camping most of the times.. you just go out there and it'll be there) is less of a pain. You don't have to camp hours and hours, with a remote chance of getting claim. I even like the way the new smaller NMs are. Drop rate can be ridiculously bad on some but you get to fight them a lot of times. Plus all the fights don't take that long, so it's not even an issue for casual players.

So yea, in the case of open world NMs, I don't really have a problem with spawn timers and drop rates.

What could be improved is better drops from the NMs (both open world and Faction Leve NMs). Some of the drops have quite poor stats for NM drops.. Maybe SE could buff up the stats on some of the gear.
