Seriously though, a lot of people seem to get "I dislike something" with "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER OMG CHANGE IT!" mixed up on these forums. Like, really think about it...how much would the entire game (not just your personal experience) be hurt by allowing players to stand on a tent? We can stand on a fence, or boxes...is that fine? Why is this such a big deal? Realism? Last time I checked, nothing in this game was real, so that's a poor excuse.

It's ok to admit you just don't like something, there are quite a few things about this game I dislike...but I don't demand they be changed because I happen to not like them, I suck it up and deal with it. Now...if standing on a tent somehow manages to spawn free relics, or cause instant wins on dungeons, then yes...I could see it being a problem. Unless I'm mistaken, this has nothing to do with gameplay, it's just a place our characters can stand on. People were able to stand on platforms they normally weren't able to in Final Fantasy XI (such as "falling off" the airship), and I don't recall people getting super offended by the thought of it. People really need to set their priorities better...because there are far more things that could be focused on than stuff like this.
I'll just reqoute this again for the peeps to really open their eyes.

I know. Doctor Beatbox wants nothing more than to sew some pants atop a tent! He told me.

Let's just assume the tent is made of the same material as our equipment. It can be 0% durability and still look perfect. There, it makes sense.

I didn't like the idea of "!" appearing above quest-givers, I voiced my opinion, but more forum-users thought it would make a good addition. That's one of the purposes of the forum, so please don't insinuate that if there's something I dislike I should suck it up and deal with it just because that's what you choose to do.
Yeah, but there's a difference between aesthetics and core game mechanics. I've stated several times how much I hate the emotes in this game, but I don't start up 10 threads a minute making my case known, because it's just my opinion. You disliking the (!) icon above the head of quest NPC's is your personal problem. I don't want to think of what this game would be like if Square-Enix took every single complaint from the forum and fixed it, especially ones as trivial as "I DISLIKE THIS ICON PLZ FIX!"

What if...the ability to jump on a tent is just a minor mistake in the Alpha, because Square-Enix just happened to not think about it? I mean, it is an Alpha test...there are bound to be glitches that people find, it's kind of the entire point of an Alpha/Beta test.

I'm not an entitled brat about this game, so I don't need to start a thread about little things that bother me. This community has a problem with just making garbage threads for the sake of making them. We get it, you dislike the grass/tent/whatever, let's make 10 threads about it and get absolutely nothing accomplished! No thanks.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

Oh. This reminds me of when they first removed character collision detection, and soon after environmental collision with fences and whatnot. And everyone was disappointed and bitterly complaining about that decision, up to this day.

    Oh wait..

And if the majority of players consider that doing *anything* on top of a tent is fine, then a criticism like this will be forgotten (which I appreciate is the most likely scenario, considering the OP's got about 8x 'Like!' atm).

Doesn't though, does it? I can't stand on top of your dumb reindeer suit and craft brown pants, for instance. I would, if I could. Over and over. But I can't.

I agree, but just because one is a priority over the other, doesn't mean the other should never be addressed.

Getting kind of off-topic now, so apologies.

This is the only thread about being able to jump up on to that tent (and presumably a whole host of other not-particularly-solid things similarly). Not ten threads a minute, which would be retarded.

The reason I brought up my '!' experience (this was before quest icons were introduced btw) was to illustrate a past discussion. It was someone else's personal problem. I agreed with it, as did a hundred or so others. More disagreed. Presumably, feedback (if any) to Yoshi was along the lines of "the minority of people don't like this" and so the implementation went ahead. I would hope that if the post had got 1000 likes, it would have been brought to Yoshi's attention and he may have thought twice about implementation. That's why people make threads; to see if others share their opinions, or in more disagree.

No-one's suggesting that S-E should fix every single complaint from the forum, it seems bizarre you'd suggest that they should.

    That'd be nice, yes.

No-one's behaving like an entitled brat. However, we are entitled to make forum threads about things in the game to open the subject for discussion amongst the community. There have been plenty of threads that I've read wherein I've initially agreed with an OP, only to have my opinion changed after reading the constructive and measured arguments to the contrary.

Nothing accomplished? A fair amount of the threads I read get confirmations from community reps, whether they have taken a suggestion on-board or already have plans for that particular element of the game.

Pretty much. You'll rarely, if ever, see people doing stuff like this. I think they're just going jump-crazy in all the footage because they're excited about finally being able to do so lol. The novelty wears off very quickly. I've been playing GW2 during the downtime and despite the exact same thing being allowed there I can't recall ever seeing anything like it. Not to mention people actually rarely jump unless they actually have a reason to.

The same reason why I played Zelda. Jumping isn't an issue to me unless it's to get around objects or ascend some like rocks and the like. I did hate it in the Live Letter IV when everyone was jumping around like fleas. It's like they couldn't stay still for one minute.

i wonder what's so bad about jump that people actually have to create 1000 threads about this topic.
    seriously, it's just JUMPING.
and no, there will be no 24/7 bunny jumping, unless you still life in 1999 and mix up this game with counter strike.

not saying you're not allowed to give your opinion about it, but some people just make me wonder why they're playing games at all if they hate everything about them >_>

    PS.:
for those taking live letter IV as an example.
c'mon, like you wouldn't jump around crazy and make faces when a camera team was actually recording something and you just happen to be behind the guy being interviewed >_>
