If you'd actually read the OP and the thread, you'd realize it isn't against jumping, but against being able to jump anywhere as some superficial aren't designed to have players on top of them and it serves no purpose.i wonder what's so bad about jump that people actually have to create 1000 threads about this topic.
seriously, it's just JUMPING.
and no, there will be no 24/7 bunny jumping, unless you still life in 1999 and mix up this game with counter strike.
not saying you're not allowed to give your opinion about it, but some people just make me wonder why they're playing games at all if they hate everything about them >_>

Curiously, that's not what this topic is about. It's bizarre that people are posting here, telling others to STFU about whether or not jumping should be in the game, when the OP of this thread was a comment on being able to jump up onto the top of a tent and stand there as if it were the ground. The OP stated clearly they had nothing against jumping being in the game.
I'm putting it down to a poorly chosen thread title and the practise of posters needing to let there opinion be known in the thread without reading what's gone before.

ohhhhhhhh you got me there haha.
cut me some slack, just came home from a work day, and after checking the 3rd alpha video i saw this thread and was like
*sigh*
yea, i really thought this whole thing was about jumping, thread titel got me into this situation, don't blame me XD
well, to add something to the actual subject,
i guess i'm fine being able to jump on subjects like tents.not really for it, not really against it.some crazy people just like to find ways to jump on things, or reach places that seem impossible to reach.
i got to understand this when i tried out GW2, it somehow entertained me to jump on houses or small rocks to reach secret places.some call it annyoing, others do see a challenge in getting up to the top of that house![]()
It's a Final Fantasy, why must Jump be real? This jump seems pretty basic for an MMO compared to some FF jumps.
Be nice if structures took damage so DoH could do field repairs, I honestly don't agree with jump being the cause of that damage (Weathered dot, raiding mobs, etc).
As for invisible walls was quite predictable since they are split into zones. Open world like Tera if look long enough you could even get to areas not even released yet (though I admit the exploration was fun).
Wish more MMOs had puzzles like hunting Datacrons in SWTOR, a LoZ-style of dungeon crawl be fun (although can see those who would oppose).
QQ I'm going to jump on everything I can.

This is not Crysis. A lot of people expect structures in MMOs to be fixed and non-collapsible. And if you add the ability to jump in an MMO, it is more than likely that they will scale that structure, regardless of its apparent materials/construction, just because it is assumed that it is fixed and non-collapsible. In MMOs in most cases, if not always, the suspension of disbelief (due to in game and external factors) is greater than the appeal to physical realism.
To answer the question, no. I don't think you are the only one who has an issue with this. I took notice of it too, as did a few others. But people who are seriously bothered by this are in the minority, and really, it is such a minor thing.

I think it's more the fact that a bunch of people standing around on a tent or doing other things that look stupid (bunny hopping) make the game seem more like all the other MMOs out there. I'm sure a lot of people (including myself) play final fantasy MMOs because they have their own unique style and this makes them feel like a higher quality and more mature game. GW, WoW etc have a cartoony look to them and so stuff like this doesn't look out of place, but in a more realistic LOOKING game like XIV a bunch of people standing on top of a tent looks stupid.
This is such a non-issue that it isn't even worth making a thread about. I can understand your opinion but people like to explore fully and getting on top things goes with a jump button. In the video when I seen it I was really surprised it wasn't invisible barriers for stuff like that and made me extremely enthusiastic about their approach. The game would be super lame if you had a jump button and couldn't use it for some platforming fun. The game isn't aiming for RL realism so why does this bother you? I can't believe you said invisible walls as a suggestion....In one point of the letter of the producer everyone hops on and starts jumping on top of a tent ...
Am I the only one who has an issue with this stuff?
I really hope they'll put an invisible wall of sorts on release.
I'm okay with jumping as long as they keep it realistic. To hop on top of a tent in one leap? For the tent to look like freaking plastic and hold there as if it was steady ground?
Hate it.
Update since people are missing the point of this thread:
It's okay to jump but not be able to get on top of something like a tent, but it is okay to hit invisible barriers to keep you from getting on top of things? No thanks! I would personally rather give up some silly physics to be able to have fun fully exploring the game. This includes getting on top of things like this just to be able to do it.
