Marriage feedback [inofficial Poll]

I don't see the use of this thread other than time killing reading the arguments and getting amused by some.
I'm glad they won't implement SSM, and hope they never do. I understand that maybe a guy makes a female character and say his "wife" created a female character and they wanna get married in game. Well, then just create a male character such as yourself, they made male Mithras and Female Galkas in ARR (or maqutos and whatever their name is) so now you don't have an excuse.
To me as a guy it feels wrong to choose a female character as a main character (wouldn't mind picking a female character as a mule for storing items but then again in FFXI I had 3 characters, 2 mules and none of them was a female) but this is my own opinion.

I saw over 500 votes to SSM and i'm sure most of them want it just for the "lol"s of it and probably don't care but just to oppose those who don't want it (this is a common trait of typical american gamers from what I've seen over the years of online gaming)

For those saying that this argument shouldn't include RL morality, SE have forced it to. If they had just implemented SSM without making a big deal of it no one would care. Instead they started and encouraged a debate.

It's not like marriage will be important in game. Who is going to go around seeing who has married who? With SSM enabled those rational thinking people are free to marry who they like and bigots can marry other bigots. Nobody loses. Nobody cares. I'm amazed SE made this an issue :/

Your personal issues and insecurities with gender and sexuality aren't a valid reason for limiting player / character equality.

In addition to that, the whole "nature / biology" argument is completely illogical - or are you saying you have those pointy elezen ears in real life and your in game character is a perfect copy of yourself (this is a rhetorical question)? In addition to that, it has nothing to do with our in game world (Eorzea) and its culture.

This makes no sense. 500+ people are passionately for, 130 people are passionately against and a few thousand don't care.

Why SE are so concerned for the small amount of bigots is incredible. It's alarming that a global company's default stance is on the side of bigots instead of equality, especially with polls and reactions like this thread (it's nice to see so many rational people here though, I doubt you'd see the same in certain other MMO's with a younger playerbase).
