    IDK if anyone pointed this out, but the main story line mentions that we are from Garlean Empire and that is where the Echo comes from. As for our Primal I cannot say for sure but looking at the beastmen in a similar fashion to our races, I'm thinking we'll maybe have five primals one for each race. Kinda disappointed that we didn't get Titan to fight as it's clearly Kobold's primal.
    From what I've seen, known Primals are Garuda(Ixali), Titan(Kobold), Ifrit(Amalj'aa), Leviathan(Sahagin?), Bahamut and Odin. Goblins and Sprites Primals are never real mentions but the Sprites at least have one, Quaziqoatl maybe? The FF universe has a load of avatars that can be use so I don't see why each race cannot get one. Just my speculations on the matter. Honestly though, I think "our" primal might not be "our" primal but the ability to use the primal of a beast tribe; noting that we'll be defeating a primal and being able to summon it once from the released notes. But still jusy my speculations, thoughts, and opinions.

    Garuda = Ixali
    Ifrit = Amal'jaa
    Titan = Kobolds (this was due to be in 1.0, but its release was around the time of a major earthquake in Japan so they decided to postpone it)
    Leviathan = Sahagins
    Shiva = Giants
    Ramuh = ??? (I think someone's made some speculations into the other beastman, but I can't recall off the top of my head. I think Sylph was a potential, but I thought they were friendly, like Ququroon and Goblins)

    But Bahamut and Odin have no (known) affiliation with anyone, men or beastmen.

    Just because they're not hostile towards us doesn't mean they don't have a Primal. They actually explicitly mentioned in one of the main story quests that they don't want to summon their Primal because of the evil influence they have over those who summon them.

    Oh totally, I understand that they might have their own Primals. Maybe it was the Primals' presence in the tribes which turnt them into the aggressive Beastmen we know? If the Goblins decided to summon theirs in 2.0 then I see that they might become more violent...

    Thanks for pointing that out =)

    Also stands to mean that we could have Primals ourselves, but if we ever summoned them then they'd taint our hearts, too, meaning we'd become more aggressive and start killing/plotting. MAYBE that's what's happened in The Empire? They've summoned a Primal or something which has encouraged them to claim other lands (with advanced tech that the Primal may have bestowed them?)

    I'm kinda going off on a tangent now.

    The goblins are probably going to hate us for slaughtering them unprovoked outside of the gates of Ul'Dah at the behest of Kipih Jakkya, but that's another story. :P

    I wouldn't say that's a far-fetched idea. Even with their hatred towards Primals, it's pretty clear the Primals require their undivided devotion, as per Ifrit's little speech in "Lord Errant". Hell, even van Darnus's little crusade was based on his now known Allag-knowledge, and I think some influence from Bahamut. He was more or less worshipping Bahamut in the end even though he never referred to him by name.

    Hmm, you make a good point about Darnus. He knew it was Bahamut all along but still decided to keep us in the dark, even as he proceeded to draw Bahamut closer. We know the Empire has some kind of 'protection' against Primals... could it be a Primal itself? Alexander, perhaps? In which case, they could flatten the whole of Eorzea and still be safe themselves. Or maybe they have a method of controlling the Primals, in which Bahamut would be the perfect weapon for their arsenal. Scary stuff D=

    I want ARR so bad >.<

    Really? Do you remember where that was mentioned? I speculated a long time ago that is where we came from but I never found any indication in game that was true. At least none that come to mind.

    I completely blanked that bit and went to the Primal bit... but yeah, I don't remember seeing that anywhere. I thought it was all unknown where it came from =/

    Main storyline with companion, near the end when you head out to assist your companion with the fight to try and retake Ala Mhigo. The female Hyur leader mentions that all the people with the ability of the echo all all somehow related to the Garlean Empire. I Clearly remember going "WHAT? I'm somehow related to those blasphemous fools that want to destroy my 'now' home?" SO me saying that we are from there might be slightly off but we are somehow tied into the Garlean Empire. Now that I'm thinking on this I'm getting a FF6 Terra vibe going on. An interesting prospect I might add if they use a similar idea.

    Unless this was mentioned in the Ul'dah or Gridania main storylines, I don't recall this. I rewatched every cutscene I had done the two days prior to the end of the game because I was recording them, and I think something like this would have stuck out.

    Edit: I was making my post before Wilksha posted, I'll check that cutscene out tonight.

    I don't have the old website to refer to, but the original FFXIV website mentions that Adventurers have wandered across Eorzea for quite a while, so they're not new to the area. Now it could very well be that we're refugees from the now Garlean-occupied Ala Mhigo, but our origins are never really mentioned. The awakening of the Echo power started during the time the events surrounding Silvertear Lake, but more people started being affected by it at a more rapid pace around the time of the start of the game.
