I was going to say louisoix could come back as the 13th sword of the knights of the round =P

Edit: You know how there are 12 swords in that sealing spell and they are in a circle... what i am saying is that the twelve could be the knights of the round just needing one more. The knights of the round in ff7 were the only summon more powerful than the strongest bahamut too.

Interesting theory, but how would this explain Bahamut? Would he be Rhalgr the Destroyer, somehow went rogue then got sealed up? Rhalgr is one of The Twelve..why would we pray to them to save the world, when one of them is bent on destroying it? This doesn't hold a lot of water with me. :x

I don't think they meant that the Twelve are the Primals that we see the beastmen using, but that they're different Primals altogether (Similar to what Anonymoose, Zantetsuken, and I are trying to illustrate, with them being "Espers" from previous games which also followed the Zodiac relationships)

Odin has a different classification from "normal" primals. They are calling him an Elder Primal. Perhaps the Twelve are all Elder Primals and beings like Ifrit and Garuda are lesser primals, demi-gods if you will.

My theory is Bahamut is the dragons' primal or even possibly a very powerful, ancient dragon king.

To answer your other question, the primals aren't necessarily bent on distroying the world, they just want our undying devotion to them as we bow down and call them gods... and feed them crystals. They have this bad habit of sucking the life energy out of the planet, but meh, no god is perfect.

Louisoix even said that summoning the twelve could be very bad and taxing on the land, but the alternative was worse so they had to try to summon them.

Who knows. Maybe the original summoning of the twelve to entrap Bahamut is what made the Allagan Empire disappear in the first place.

All speculation of course, but I find it to be a very compelling theory.

Not exactly baseless when you follow the story.
The Echo is a special ability that some rare individuals possess, and an important part of Final Fantasy XIV's storyline. Those that have been 'gifted', as the members of the Path of the Twelve calls it, have the power to resonate with other people's souls - and see their past, albeit not able to interfere or change it, as well as being able to speak every language in the world. It has been reported that this power is awakening over the last ten years, with no signal of its existence before that time.
So it appeared around the time when the Primals were released at the Battle of Silvertear Skies, hmm interesting. Siren has never been brought up except for the concept art of her, but the hints in game of her presence are there. Someone talked to us when The Echo was awakened within us. Nothing wrong with associating the singing and the voices with Siren. People claim to hear voices all the time, but atleast in this game it can actually be a real voice.

    Dravnians worship Bahamut yes.
The Allagan empire was destroyed in Fourth Umbral Era.
The Fourth Umbral Era's element was Earth.
So Bahamut didn't directly destroy the Allagan Empire, but if they drained the land of aether and caused instability, along with suffering massive casualties, just to seal him away. Then he indirectly caused the Fourth Umbral Age. We don't know if they used the same method to seal Bahamut, Cid told us it was a machine and I would think the Garleans would have a better perspective of what it actually was because their technology is based on the Allagan Empire. A Machine or "The Twelve," could just be a different name for the same outcome.

I've tried linking The Twelve to the zodiac and the Espers a few times, but it always makes my head hurt. Some of them are pulled from other areas. For instance, no matter how you slice it, Nymeia is based on Nona, the Roman equivalent of Clotho, one of the three fates; the spinner of the thread of life. This is most evident by Nymeia's original association with the Ninth Moon, a number heavily associated with Nona, and the fact that Nymeia's brother, Althyk, is based on Saturn - brother of Clotho.

Haha, I kept refreshing the page on your last post wanting to see where you'd go with it, but I noticed a lot of inactivity =b That's a shame! But yeah, I understand why it's hard... I struggled to make links between the two games themselves, let alone going back to the Romans,

I want to believe our primal is one of the 12. Ifrit wonders why we don't call ours, but if our primal is the 12, then we kinda do. Our primal is different for each person. My Deity is Halone, so she is my Primal. Nymeia may be another player's primal.

Maybe as Summoner, we can summon the typical Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, etc, but also a part of our patron deity too. Or, maybe we don't need Summoner to call them, maybe it's just an ability all jobs have but has like a 2 hour cool down.

I don't know what they will do if we call them. Yeah the more war-like primals can probably fight, but what about Nymeia, or Nald'Thal? They don't really fight...one's a Weaver, the other is a trader/death.

Maybe Nymeia will boost Weaver HQ rate or Nald can boost our items' selling price to NPCs, and Thal can give everyone reraise...I forgot which one is the trader and which one is death lol.

You're forgetting that all of the The Twelve have an elemental affinity, so it might just be as simple as an elemental attack, if they're even involved in fighting at all.

I don't think we'll be able to call them at all, since they 'drain aether' at such a large scale.
