I think ancient rome would compare same-sex marriage to child pornography and we arent much far from there, honestly.

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
no that is my point... as the relationships were often with young boys. what I mean is that they would have found them comparable to the point of indifference, so in a very real way they were the same because there was no distinction.
Oh~ I totally thought you were speaking of CP as in the stigma it carries today and not then D: lol

I don't get it, what does the opinions of Ancient Romans have to do with our own?
Square-Enix is going to remove the possibility of marriage. For one thing, it's silly. For another, it is completely obvious that this is an extremely sensitive issue. Why would they want to do it either way? Allowing gay marriage will offend people, and not allowing it will offend people. Best solution? Nobody wins![]()

I guess if you think the opinions of every culture and time everywhere are no to do with ours... but we could say that the opinions of Americans are vastly different than those of Asian cultures (of which has quite a bit to do with this discussion). My point speaks more to the fact that what you believe is really entirely in the eye of the beholder so pretending that an opinion is better because of the country or culture you are in is better, is a little short-sided.
I have friends that believe in "poly-amory", which most of America would believe is terrible along with plural marriage, but do I say that it means my views are better than theirs? Not at all/
Even religion believed in multiple wives - it only changed recently lol, they are "old souls" ^_^.I guess if you think the opinions of every culture and time everywhere are no to do with ours... but we could say that the opinions of Americans are vastly different than those of Asian cultures (of which has quite a bit to do with this discussion). What I want to know is are there people (on either side) that would disprove of a re-imagined wedding - one that follows FFXIV lore and gods, and perhaps doesn't even have the same name. Or is it just the aspect that there exists "those not like me".

That's my point man. People allowed "child" sexual relationships until recently. in the 20-30's lots of people were still married at 12-14. Say that now and everyone freaks out. "Right" and "Wrong" is such a fluid concept anyways that it makes the whole arguement moot. In the end, they should just do what will make the most money.
