Cool what I can do when I get upfront about the issue instead of pompously dismissing it like a certain someone!

You know what? It is an elitist statement, because I believe before XI was the best game, and now I think FFXIV will be the best game. Best also meaning elite, even though you already know what it means I figured I'd just sidetrack and inform you anyway because that's what you've been doing to other people. My way of thinking is also elitist because I'm only talking from the experiences of only 2 MMOs that I've ever played for more than a day. Label it, and then deal with it.

I don't want free loaders who don't carry their weight; I want everyone to be in this adventure together at equal customers.

Also, people are using the term RMT as a noun referring to the cheaters/botters/spammers. Except the reality that RMT is just "Real Money Trade". The moment you use USD to get gil, you have also just become an RMT.

There's no way you can make "Spend USD, get gil!" sound good.

When FFXI players did everything there was to do (unlikely) they took a break. The content, people, and experience would lead them to come back. FFXI was/is a huge success. They have nothing to worry about.

By the way, axemtitanium: It is nice to think developers appreciate every player individually. I personally believe they do, you don't, that's cool. They sent me an e-mail saying: "Hey Eric, sorry XIV is terrible, we understand that you love the hell out of us and our series and we feel really bad. Because we have so much pride from being the best all the damn time, we're going to fix this, because we feel like we let you down." I think SE cares a lot. I think we should also care a lot!
Hooray! Someone replied to me directly! I was beginning to think I was just talking to a wall or people with selective hearing (reading?) or something. Anyway, I'm sure SE cares a lot, but not to the extent that they would deny a source of potentially more customers. Money is money and a company doesn't care who's doing the giving and how much, as long as it's "more". As I've said, there's no guarantee that PLEX will work for XIV but I think there's plenty of data and experience out there to suggest that it's worth a try.

I also don't think there's a necessary correlation between users of this system and "hardcore"-ness. One of the best players I know (no longer active) has bought a TON of gil (he claims it's in the $1000s range) in this game as a way to quickly bypass the hamlet and relic double-meld portions of the relic quest. I don't condone his patronage of economy-busting RMT but I can't deny that he's an incredibly knowledgable and skilled player. Just because one player does or doesn't pay $10 a month has no bearing on skill or dedication.

Lets not make XIV like every other standard MMO out there, lets make XIV unique and different period!!!
If Yoshi-P is to be believed, the best equipment will be U/U anyway so once you get a decent double-meld, it'll put you at the stats you need to run the content that will earn you your U/U best-in-slot.

Even it isn't required to do so.
I don't believe the system would rely on these types of people. The original system of a regular monthly fee would still be in place for the vast majority of players who don't want to bother with either side of the equation---playing for free or purchasing gil.

I'm pretty sure US$1000s would mean hundreds of millions of gil.

You don't think he got 7/7 relics and saw there was nothing left to do in the game? I'm sure he'll be back once 2.0 comes out but I'm guessing there was really no reason for him to continue logging in other than to help other people all day every day, which understandably might get boring.

so if someone wanted they could search everyone on the server with 7/7 relic achievement then figure out which one is your friend(prob in the same LS or something) and well know who this guy is then. awesome thanks for the info.

    I agree with you.
I don't think being an RMT makes you a bad player, or a bad person.
Unsure of my quality of play, I'm pretty sure I'm not bad.
(Actually I might the most awesomest.)
If I dropped a couple hundred bone$ on gil; it wouldn't all the sudden make me a bad WHM, or a bad person.

It would just make a me a cheater cheater pumpkin eater.
While I watch and laugh as my brother farms beehive chips for hours, I already have everything that I need.
I think if I had any love or respect for the game, (I do. ^^) I should feel bad about it and like a perfect ass.

Of course, then SE could find me for the mole that I am and whack me.. but..

    I don't want to legalize cheating. ._.
