    When it was mentioned about animations of a spell changing based on level, the first thing that popped to to mind was Square Soft's "Secret of Mana." As you made your spell stronger over usage the spell got stronger and the spell animation changed, even if most of the time it was just a larger spell animation. I'd like to see a "tiered" animation if they no longer use a large repertoire of spells. In FFXI I often casted lower tiered spells before higher ones just to see the change in animations. Using the same spells get a little boring if it's always the same. As for animations to spells, I preferred FFXI spell animations over our current ones. Quake 2, Blizzard 5, Freeze, Tornado 2, Firaga 3 and 4 are among my fav spell animations.

    They overcomplicated it in XIv. Astral/Umbral is a make up of certain spells, they aren't separate elements technically. Only reason enemies still cast certain ones is because they never update their spell lists.

    I think its to soon for tiers since highest level cap is Lv50. I also think the spells will definitely get stronger, and I'd like the animation to change as you level up.

    it would be a cool idea, kind of like star ocean where you use the ability x amount of times and the animation gets more badass

    That's basically borrowed from Seiken Densetsu 2 and I think was done slightly better in some ways but yeah.

    No, he doesn't just want that. What you pictured, I'm fine with- I'd like that. What he wants is seperate spells for each tier as FFXI.

    Just call it Secret of Mana so people know what you're talking about.

    I miss the spells in FFXI. Castin drain or warp or stonega was always a treat for the eyes.

    No i dont.. you misunderstood me. he is right. one skill that evolves when it comes to more impressive animations.
    and that it would named differently each level stage .. for example 1-20 lv -> Aero I

    but it still remains one skill that develops.

    do not interpretate things when you just read "tier".

    This guy is right on the money (per usual). I can't describe the frustration of knocking a mob to about to 5% only to have to cast a 300mp spell, or pull out my weapon and smack it for 15 seconds. So yea, it CAN be useful.
