Well in my first response I tried to put things in perspective by comparing cyber "bullying" to real bullying but Amy didn't like that so she caled it a fallacy. Before Amy listed the things that were bothering her i imagined maybe she was going through something more severe like people putting her personal information online or photoshoping embarrassing pictures of her or something. I didn't expect the typical MMO stuff. From her perspective it's bullying but from mine it's just some things that she's allowing to bother her.Woa O.O we do want to keep playing the game and cyber bully is a factor that affects MANY in their play time.
Ok lets talk about the issue that most of us care. If you feel that it is not that important then you got the right to not care about this thread and just ignore it but please be considerate that some do care and feel that is important. This is not for the people that can deal with is in an effectively manner but more about the people that really can't and the people that cares about those.
Anyway if SE can't fix her problem and she doesn't want to get a thicker skin what else can she do? No matter what people will be assholes online.
Well yeah, if there's obviously some harassment going on there should be a suspension or ban put in place.
SE should do a pretty thorough checkup though, It's no good if the wrong person gets in trouble.
Completely agreed. It does more harm than good if they just ban people for getting reported like some other MMO's do.
Also completely agreed.
Now you're just overracting.
I don't have to look through the other side of the fence as almost all the things you've mentioned have happened to me at one point or another. It's up to you how much you let it affect your gaming experience. You are letting these things bother you.Not going to reply to the rest of your post because it's getting circular at this point. All I can say is look on the other side of the fence and have some empathy.
Saying you're using ad hominem attacks is not over reacting. I am simply stating you are going after aspects of myself instead of my points and that adds nothing. Now you're just overracting.

Also, maybe when I type it you don't seem to understand what I'm saying so I will quote someone else with my main point to get it across to you.
That's it. That simple. Anything else I stated is mere adding to my case and not the main focus point so in essence you're attacking the branches of the argument and ignoring the structure of it which is causing the building frustration in my posts.
This is your problem. You see everything as a debate or attack instead of people trying to give you advice. I never disagreed with whether or not SE should ban or suspend someone for harrassment. I offered my opinion of things I thought you could or should do yourself since SE isn't handling things to your satisfaction.Saying you're using ad hominem attacks is not over reacting. I am simply stating you are going after aspects of myself instead of my points and that adds nothing.

It seems like you don't like that though. You just want everyone to agree with everything you say and offer you pity.
Okay, let's step back here. This was your first post that I saw.
I replied with thisSo.....did anyone ever explain why the blacklist doesn't work? I've never really understood cyber bullying. Compared to real life bullying like someone hitting your or taking your stuff it never seemed like a big deal. It seems a lot easier to avoid/ignore since you can just block/blacklist people online. It's hard to ignore someone actually physically assaulting you or taking your stuff.
Apologies in advance if my post seems unsensitive.
I put the "branches" of my point in bold. These don't add anything to the actual point but are mere examples. I've never even had someone follow me around with their buddies /laughing at me. It was merely a example.Blacklist doesn't stop someone and his friends from following you spamming /laugh at you.
Blacklist doesn't stop someone from getting his buddies to send horribly rude things to you.
Blacklist doesn't stop someone from spreading lies or bad things about you.
Blacklist doesn't stop someone from MPKing you.
Blacklist only works when or after being bullied and even then it only stops messages and it goes far beyond that.
I've been bullied a little in this game and it's not pleasant and it generally hurts your feelings even if you do blacklist them. I think that's the part you may not be getting, the emotional part of being cyber bullied. The major fix would be just to have a GM service that actually DOES something other than delete forum posts and tell people that they are "investigating the issue" even if it was simply light punishment. Not everyone has thick skin and people do have feelings on the other side of the computer monitor. Though, some other suggestions here are completely bad and unwarranted.
From there it is a debate. Not a "formal" debate with mediator and debating rules but a debate about cyber bullying on a forum. My stance was that SE should do something about it and your stance was that everyone should just deal with it and grow thick skin and our posts have been back and forth and that is considered a debate.
I'm not asking for people to agree with me. I'm okay with that. If someone disagreed with me and put up valid points I'd concede to them and take their points into consideration and I certainly do not want pity.
For it to even be a debate I would have to be dissagreeing that SE should do something about cyber "bullying". I listed alternatives. Sometimes instead of holding your breath waiting for some help that may never come you have to deal with things yourself. It's usually the best way to make sure your problem is solved.Okay, let's step back here. This was your first post that I saw.

edit
Unless you're referring to this. To clarify this line I wasn't saying people shouldn't be banned or suspended for harassment. Aside from the mpking and verbal abuse I don't see what SE can do. Does SE really need to waste time one people spreading lies about each other in LSs? Or play detective and see if someone was wrongly kicked out of a LS?So far nothing you said convinced me there's a huge problem in the game that SE needs to address.
Anyway seriously..some insults or threats from someone who's probably a fat lonely loser should not ruin your game experience.
