yes

For now, you have to have multiple copies of the sme piece of gear if you want to use it in different sets. However, they are considering allowing players to give an alias to certain pieces of gear to allow that piece to be used in different sets. They have not settled on this yet because the second option could be confusing to players.

so in other words if i don't have 2 hdl sets or multiple multi melds of the same piece of gear i'll need to carry it around with me because i will have to manually equip it instead if it being part of a gearset and taking up inventory..... gotcha
