Everything is easy mode where can do everything and get everything, and can almost always undo anything you decide to do.

Failing or being silly should have a penalty, i've not play'd a game since EvE that has even slightly got me on the edge of my seat trying not to die.. or made me focus really hard trying to get somewherr or do something i shoudn't.
RL might be a better, but a game that makes you work can still give you a rush from time to time.
I'd prefer the rush to come when I'm fighting a really difficult boss that requires perfect timing. A stacking weakness is a better idea, it punishes you more for being 'silly' on content that matters, and doesn't punish casual players who only play a little bit weekly.

XI's weakness without the EXP loss would be a good system to employ, I want to feel like someone in my group dying means that we have to work extra hard to fulfill part of his role, rather than just throwing gil at the problem after the fight is done.

I have not read or seen anywhere yet that they plan to remove this nuisance in the game?
You haven't heard about it because it's not happening.

Gear damage exists as a money sink and a death penalty, and for basically no other reason. It's not supposed to be "fun" or "realistic" but rather simply to serve those two (needed) purposes. I will take gear damage over EXP loss any day.

Do you have a problem with quoting people? Why do you always chop it up instead of leaving the entire quote in for context?

No...it doesn't... It just pisses everyone off because they delevel and makes them LESS likely to help with difficult content that they already finished for themselves.

No, I don't "have a problem" with quoting people. I simply only quote the text that's relevant to my response. This isn't an intended omission of something important- It's a huge waste of space in the page to quote the whole post when it's really not necessary.

By quoting individual points, it's easier to tie my responses to them compared to when you have the whole block of text followed by all of my response lumped together. That's just how I do things. Why is this a problem for you? How about you actually reply to my post if you need/want to, instead of clogging up the thread by criticizing my posting style?

You can bold the sentence you want to reply to, and still keep the original post for context purposes. You always try to pick apart posts so you can argue each point instead of the message they are conveying as a whole.

And I'm posting it in here because I don't want to make a "Alhanelem why do you post in such a silly way?" thread.

It isn't about this message in particular.

Ah i'm old, i remeber games with permadeath and as much as i hated it, it gave me a reason to try that bit more.

I'm not a fan of the Exp loss idea etither though, it does effect casuals more then regualr or hardcore.
Also leveling as we have it in most MMO's isn't fun its just something to slow you down, no more, its not rewarding no matter how long it takes.

I think the gear durability idea from SWG i posted on the 1st page is a good balance, as it wont effect casuals as much as they play less so it balances out a little, it would hurt if you die in your best gear, will mean people have more then 1 set of gear sp good for the crafters and gatherers too by keeping demand up, only down side is inventory i guess..

I include what is necessary for context when it is necessary. In this case, it wasn't necessary in my view. As for "picking apart posts", That's simply how I process them in my mind. Sorry if it disturbs you in some way, but it's just how things work. Most people have multiple individual points when debating a topic, and since I'm debating a topic, I prefer to address those points directly and individually. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not part of some strategy to "win" or an ulterior motive. It's just being analytical.

What else exactly did I need to quote in my post for you to understand it? I thought my message was pretty clear.

    It doesn't bother me.

I never claimed you did it to 'win', but thanks for fortifying my opinion on why you do it.

You try to remove clarity, to bolster your own points.

To the see how the extent of human intelligence and reasoning that's provided, how can we reason with such an argument?

All I can say is: Life's a bitch and then you die. Oh yeah, your gear receives damage too. We all have to deal with it.

I do not know or care if they plan to remove it in 2.0
