That won't happen. It doesn't make any sense.
If a Item sells for 5m now and you have 50m, that's ok.
But once your 50 turns into 5m, that 5m item will have to go down to 1m tops, otherwise NOTHING will sell.
people won't sell at the same price they are now, but it's completely naive to think the price of most items will drop to 1/10 of what they sell now. At best they'll sell for 1/5 but more realistically speaking 1/3 of what they sell now. It's even more naive to think that the same people encouraging this measure won't be the one overpricing, and/or buying overpriced items. Thinking that all the leathers and hides and junk items will go from 4000gil to 400gil is kidding yourself.
People are investing in stock items to sell in 2.0. Remember how we made fun of Fallout style economy concepts?
That's pretty much what we're getting. From a lore setting, it's amazing. From an MMO Economy standpoint it's stupid but it keeps the field balanced for new playorz to try and catch up. Atleast you don't lose your CRP50 to craft furniture, your gathering to gather mats, you can still be at the top fairly easy.
I am gonna feel sick lol when all my gil is gonei am not too bothered though if things work like they say...if not then ill ask for it back lol!! I also craft and gather for myself, just feel a little sad that they have done this now after 2 years, why not when we all started?
I agree with you 100 percent. ;_;people won't sell at the same price they are now, but it's completely naive to think the price of most items will drop to 1/10 of what they sell now. It's naive to think that the economy won't work itself out into an acceptable price level after the initial shocks of 2.0 wear off.people won't sell at the same price they are now, but it's completely naive to think the price of most items will drop to 1/10 of what they sell now. At best they'll sell for 1/5 but more realistically speaking 1/3 of what they sell now. I never said economy wouldn't work itself out, I'm just saying some people are plain stupid to think everything will go down to 1/10 of what they sell now. I'm pretty sure we'll see inflation at first, then a deflation for a couple of months, then items will sell for much more than what everyone expected. Around 1/5 to 1/3 of what they sell now. By then most people will have forgotten or found a way to make gil to compensate the loss and won't care. Don't underestimate human stupidity, and that even more when playing a MMO.
This being said, and considering how naive some people are in MMO, it's probably best to turn into a full time crook. I'd probably make a living selling thin foil hats pretending they protect against Moogle invasions.
