Matsume... they're not reducing the gil cap. They're reducing all gil values in game to 10% of what they are now. The scenario you spent on so long to write up has no relevance to this as it can be done with or without a new denomination.
Yay for people still not getting it.

You gunna make up your mind Noctis? I'm starting to question the validity of anything you say...

Noctis, remember page 65? or should i say post #644?
I guess I was wrong...
So i'm gunna throw another log on the fire:
Remember when France converted from the French Franc to the Euro? Prices of food amongst other things have never been more expensive.
Okay so international economics might be slightly more convuluted and complicated than our in game economy. But the point is converting one form of currency into a more/less valuable form of currency carries unintended consequences and the price of goods after will never be equal to their price before hand. Thinking that players will price goods and services for 1/10th their current value is naive.
But really what does this have to do with removing arrows from the archer class? Why is SE trying to mask this anti-inflationary measure by claiming it's the arrows fault?
I blame the rabbit.

The problem with this idea is that the economy is user controlled, no matter what kind of choke-hold they put on decreasing NPC's buying amounts the players will decide how much they want for something they farm/craft/re-sell.
Like many have said before, the have's will have a nice pillow of money while they have-nots will have no way to make enough to compete from the launch.. it will be like FFXI all over again right after international release Rise Of Zilart..

Exactly. the rich will inflate whenever there is a new source of profit, like atomos drop values cause relic parts to skyrocket, people can afford insane prices, so prices continue to rise.Matsume... they're not reducing the gil cap. Opinions, opinions everywhere.
The fact of the matter is the AH won't scale down in parallel with the gil change. You haven't played many MMOs for any discernible amount of time if you honestly think otherwise. In ANY online game where currency and economy exists, any change in value of currency, tokens, or anything as such always causes immediate, but not permanent, inflation. Face it and suck it up, it's going to be a crafter's paradise at launch.
This is not an opinion, this is a fact and an inevitability. I'm going to be making bank off you folk that aren't preparing, so it's win/win anyways.

Eh... whatever. Takes too much effort to discuss this in circles.
Just remember all of this once ARR launches and things turn out to be all just peachy sooner rather than later.
I'm worried that players that are already used to selling stuff for x price will continue to sell it for x price. So if a miner is used to selling his product for 50k, he continues to sell it for 50k, he doesn't switch to selling it for 5k. So, all this accomplishes is the reduction of the amount of people who can buy the product and helps to further increase the difference between those who make a lot of money and those who can't (ie: crafters that already have a lot of money, and new crafters that can't access very expensive raw materials).
We'll take it into consideration.™
