It seems pretty clear to me that the max amount of gil a player can carry will be changed to 99,999,999, (not reducing everyone's total gil by a digit) which won't affect most players. I have never heard of someone having that much gil. If you do, it just sounds like you are up to something shady IMO. Unless it's a LS gil bank or something. In which case, just get it some retainers or another mule to put gil in and problem solved.

Thank you for reducing my post to a statement I didn't make at all. It's not a "you have more than me, so you must be cheating" remark as much as a "Why would anyone playing legitimately see the need to carry that much gil around without spending it in some way?" What would the point really be?

I craft, mine, farm, and do all sorts of things that make money. I can pull in the gil, and I've got plenty of expensive gear in addition to what I have to spend. I would think that most players (esp legitimate ones) that have a lot of wealth, or the potential to generate a lot of gil, have more wealth in the items they hold than actual gil reserves.

But I don't have so much that, onoes, SE reducing the max amount of gil I can horde would actually affect me. I guess if you have a really deep and absorbent poop sock, no life, or responsibilities you could exceed the retarded amount of 99,999,999 gil and actually be affected by this change, but I really only thought that botters and gil sellers would have that kind of cheddar.

High five if you do, I guess?

lmfao you act like 100 mil is hard to make.

this game has been out almost 2 full years now. since it's not complete 2 years and people don't play daily let's take a look at how much people would have to make a day to be over the 100mil target.

let's say you have played 500 days out of the 2 years the game has been out. to be sitting at 100mil you only have to have added 200k per day you have played to be above that. when i go out and farm materials or make gear to put on the wards it is very easy to make 3mil+ a day. also, you must realize that people that have a massive amount of gil are usually self sufficient and don't have the need to buy anything from the wards if they don't want to.

now let's also take into account that alot of people that have a massive amount of gil are already capped on every class and have them all geared up. for them to stay in game and playing about the only thing left is to sit and make gil. i've had all classes capped since november of last year, but been in game almost a year since i capped them. most of the time i am running content, but during down times i'll farm a few stacks of skins or mine a few stacks of ores. just a few hours of farming makes wayyyyyyyyy over the 200k i mentioned earlier needed to already be above the 100mil mark.

like i said you act like making gil is difficult when it is easy to make 1mil+ daily for the average player if they were willing to put in the time to do the work.

    [...]

Watch the same people cry their mom and dad on this forum once SE reduce the total gil that it's harder to make gil and it's SE fault if they have to rely on RMT to get gil. (FFXI-RMT syndrome anyone?)

What MMO thread is complete without the "anyone with more gil/gear/experience/skill/whatever than I have is a no-life haha what a loser" post? Thank you for rounding out the thread, sir.

Seriously? I was making 50mil a month when crab bows and jade crooks were cool.

Admittedly it has become a lot harder to make money since then and I've barely had a retainer in a ward this year because I just can't be bothered with it any more, so I can see why a new player would hold the opinion you have.

These days gil is mainly made through selling lots of small value items rather than high value items like +3 weapons. Sure the relic double melded weapons are expensive, but chances are if you're making those you're buying the materia so the profit is very low. It's just too time consuming to farm the right materia due to the RNG.

But just the other week I made over 22mil just exchanging my guildmarks. Money for literally nothing. I bet most people exchanged theirs without even thinking how to get the most money per mark.

Ugh. I am not a new player. I just don't see the point in having more money than that. At a certain point, just knowing that I can generate gil when I need to is good enough. There is nothing to spend it on anyway.

You know, I don't care if they do either one of the things being debated here. Go on ahead, SE. I'm gonna put on some shades and ride my Goobbue. Done with this thread!

Just because there currently isn't a need to have hundreds of millions doesn't mean there won't be a need in the future. If I was one of those players who wanted all 7 relic weapons I'd be looking at spending at least 150 million on that process. All that would filter down to the less well off players. The housing in V2 will also be costly. What else will they add that is costly?

And anyway I made my fortune at a time when I was able to play all day every day. I have a job now and don't have time to make tonnes of gil like that. I am set for the future. Making gil as you need it isn't always the best solution. I like to plan ahead.

I don't think this is anything to worry about. If they redenominate then everyone stays the same. If they're simply lowering the max digit then sure some rich players will lose money, those currently not playing who don't hear about the change in time, but the rest of us will move gil between characters. That in effect makes me richer, because those people who get unlucky with it will be taking gil out the system.

how do you figure that money on relics are filtering down to less well off players? do you really think that people that are farming mats and making the relics and double melding them and selling extras off in the wards are poor?

who do you think is getting the benefits of people buying the double melded relics off the wards? it's people that are already rich and the people buying from them are just making them richer.
