This is Final Fantasy people. It is supposed to come with Highly Aesthetically pleasing Game play. Not half-assed backpedaling and rigid shoulders and legs that move in two different directions while strafing.

Yet people will scream: "MMO FIRST! FF SECOND!" They can do both while focusing on what makes Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy. Summoning magic/limit break style abilities and cutscenes were a testament to exactly how much focus on graphics FF games generally are.
Tell that to all the Final Fantasies IV-VII which are still played to this day.
Reality does not have to conform to your conceptions. Aesthetically pleasing is in the eye of the beholder. Some of us just think it's 'grass', in the background, doesn't matter.
Who told you how we use TP or any other gameplay issue, is a bigger part of gameplay than the way our character moves through the map?
This is a subjective issue, let others judge it individually.
To me, movement animations play a big part, especially in an mmo, where the majority of time we see a character running around. I can deal with an unfortunate change in the battle system, but character movement is a big deal.

i think Nemy trolls ...
Which were all to show off the graphical prowess Square had. FFIV, V, VI, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana 2 and 3 etc were all significantly detailed sprite work, they could have just went with the "barely post NES" look sprites were still looking like in those early days ;p
Fallacies.
Implying people play IV-VII, and current generation Final Fantasy MMO for the same reasons.
If SE released an MMO with the technical attributes of IV, it would attract completely different people, and a small part of the current target group of FFXIV.
well you can't say FF7 had good graphics ...
Movement is Movement ( unless you want them to skip, roll, jump, trip and fall on a rock lol). And since they are changing the combo system to be only in "one direction.movement animations play a big part
That makes it even less that movement isn't so much on the gameplay side ( though if your character doesn't move how would you play FFXIV:ARR) So in a sense your right, it is part of gameplay, but on the flip side of the coin Movement doesn't provide anything aside from getting to your destination.
I respect your opinion though and I agree with one statement : " Let others Judge it individually" =)
