they can do it like FF tactics
you earn your exp and job points during battles. exp is for the level and with job points you can buy your next skill

LOL go away you FFXI masochists ..
I never want to see skill parties as a whm again,
"I'm here to level my club skills"
"So who's going to heal us ?"
"Do I look like I care !?"
That being said I want to see Power-levelling completely removed from the game in 2.0, I dont' think power-levelling has anything to do unskilled players though, its more like cheating.
It's easy to learn your class after hitting lvl 50.

No thanks to skill ups. Can we see 2.0 before requesting the game be changed... again
Skill ups are a horrible idea. They're simply another exp bar you have to fill, only worse. So getting to a higher level doesn't mean more mastery with your weapon? What else is your character learning from EXPERIENCE points?
I support this thread and would love to see magic and weapon skill-ups be put in the game.
Based on his comment, it seems that he played FFXI. I'm pretty sure you can have enjoyed FFXI without enjoying the skillup system. I know I did. I even enjoyed making sure all of my skills were capped, and worked on it daily in FFXI. That's the problem - it feels like an obligation and it's such a horribly slow and painstaking process that simply overlaps with the leveling system that already exists.
Even if you think it worked in FFXI, that doesn't justify adding it here. If anything, FFXI skillups don't fit the traditional FF way of leveling as well as FFXIV without skillups does. Just saiyan.
