Hmmm i can imagine using my thundaga on Marmot and the Marmot get that shocked animation and there smoked coming off it's body...or or using firaga on a Coackatrice burning their feathers away and get fried Dodo's
*or* overcooked Dodo meat rofl

I think it would be a neat thing to add. When you defeat an enemy it slowly topples over with free physics rather than a set animation. I mean its not like we can hit dead enemies anyway so you won't be playing golf with their corpses.
Plus they wouldn't have to make death animations for each enemy. 8D
I think it would be a neat addition, they should give it a try.
<_< i prefer more dead animation when hit by certain skills.
Ragdoll Physics are comical and in my opinion wouldn't fit in FFXIV for that reason alone.
Oh GOD no. I hate that junky crap.
Death does not work that way. People are heavy. They fall with a thud, not weightlessly bounce around with jelly arms down a hill.
Interesting subject. But mobs could have diffrent way of dying depending on the finishing blow. Sounds like most of the ragdoll talk is just removing all weight from the target.
It could seem realistic if weight was counted into the animation/physics, then you'd never ever see a dead Ifrit being tossed off screen :P

But..sometimes when things die..I do see them slide across the ground..granted thats server lag but still!
Its a neat idea..personally I like the animation the slugs have when they die...they slowly bow down towards you as they are killed. Its like... damn straight you're gonna bow to me, right after being firaga'd to death. kekeke
For that matter..if things were to die in a way appropriate to the way they were killed.. ie.. if something is stabbed, or slashed, you see a visible gush of blood..or something similiar spray from the creature's body in response to it, before it starts its dying phase.
Or, as Fable did it so eleoquently. Say..something dies with a Thunder spell..they are zapped, you see their skeleton for a split second, before they turn to ash and crumble. Same for Fire spells..they go up in flames, engulfed, but collapsing into ash. Earth spells would cause tons of rocks to suddenely appear over the fallen creature's body, crushing them into oblivion.
It would signify who kills something more than just a little line in your chat log no one else see's..then you really can proclaim.. I did that!

Rag doll physics are good for only a few things; unintentional comedy, YouTube meme, humorous .gifs, and... That's about it.
Besides this game is hard enough on a computer asking it to render rag doll physics for numerous players at random times is just a recipe for your graphics card to catch on fire!
