I did read what you're saying and I'm sorry you experienced a cold reception. But I definitely haven't had issues socializing with other players in duties or the overworld in most cases. I've made friends in the Novice Network, through my FC, and through side activities. I've seen plenty of people handing out gifts without asking for anything return, trading banter mid-raid, and emoting at each other solely for the fun of it.

You will run into the occasional jerk, it's true in any game on the internet with chat functions, but in my experience most people are decent and don't mind chatting at all. I'm not going to pretend to know how your conversations went, but the community can be wonderfully chatty and welcoming if you give it a chance.

I don't wish to invalidate your experiences. But I also think that you may be painting in broader strokes than you should.
