Give MSQ skippers a SKIP IT ALL button already

We get it, you want to accommodate everyone as much as possible with their experience through the main story line. You want players that do seek immersion in the story to be able to do so with little puzzle sessions giving out agency to them, and you want story skippers not to be blocked by such immersive experiences too much.

Am I the only one that finds this to be broken logically? If you actually wanted msq skippers to fully enjoy themselves, you'd just give them a button at every patch to skip every dialog and cutscene and move on to the next dungeon or trial. They're obviously not there for the story, so why do you keep forcing them through it, even though it comes at the cost of everybody else that do enjoy the story? Where is the logic in that? Meanwhile we could have so much more than "go talk to X then back to Y" back and forth, but that's what we're going to get just because someone that doesn't want to go through the story can spam skip? Is this for real? Just let them skip the whole thing and make the whole thing actually engaging for once!

On top of it, having such a button would ensure that nobody gets stuck behind any little puzzle, now matter how trivial it is. Everybody wins.

This might sound harsh but if you have zero interest in the story then you shouldn't be playing a role-playing game.

You're missing the entire point. If you have the option to skip it, then they should let us skip it.

Nobody wants to watch the same stuff over and over. There's a reason why they let you go back and experience the story in your room in the inn.

i like this idea, it feels like a win-win to me. it lets them put more focus on interesting story things like the puzzle we just had. and then the people who have zero interest (of whom i know many) can go on their merry way and just go straight to battle content.

i understand what StormChase is saying. i do feel like that too, but people who skip do play the game. sooo....

    Nah fam, struggle.

How else are you going to learn to turn your character 180 degrees to avoid a gaze mechanic?

I really believe they can just do an "assign Alphinaud to handle it" option for skippers. People that want to do all the story and challenges would do it themselves. Many games have "mini-games" and only some people bother with them. It just makes sure that people actually want to do them.

At this point though, there is argument to be made that anyone wanting to manually skip without a skip pack has a giant slog to get through already, and a puzzle is probably refreshing after clicking the skip button enough times to go crazy. Plus they'd have all the answers already due to having looked them up, or be like in my case where it was kinda obvious without looking at certain clues (or you can just guess the answers too).

I don't think the game should let people skip the entire MSQ without paying though because it demonstrates they don't want people to skip, unless they're so adamant about it they'll pay.

It sounds like a win-win in theory but in practice you're gonna get more people who talk like they've gone through the story when they didn't. Probably not the option that makes as much money, but IMO they should make the MSQ more engaging and if some players aren't into that... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What you’re asking is more akin to them selling a story skip for the current expansion. I think if they put it on the store, it would probably be preferable to those who want to skip and just do endgame content.

Why not both? A skip all option, and make the main story not a boring visual novel 90% of the time

The FF mainline series is about being a novel at times. Why else would you be here?
