This might sound harsh but if you have zero interest in the story then you shouldn't be playing a role-playing game.We get it, you want to accommodate everyone as much as possible with their experience through the main story line. You want players that do seek immersion in the story to be able to do so with little puzzle sessions giving out agency to them, and you want story skippers not to be blocked by such immersive experiences too much.
Am I the only one that finds this to be broken logically? If you actually wanted msq skippers to fully enjoy themselves, you'd just give them a button at every patch to skip every dialog and cutscene and move on to the next dungeon or trial. They're obviously not there for the story, so why do you keep forcing them through it, even though it comes at the cost of everybody else that do enjoy the story? Where is the logic in that? Meanwhile we could have so much more than "go talk to X then back to Y" back and forth, but that's what we're going to get just because someone that doesn't want to go through the story can spam skip? Is this for real? Just let them skip the whole thing and make the whole thing actually engaging for once!
On top of it, having such a button would ensure that nobody gets stuck behind any little puzzle, now matter how trivial it is. Everybody wins.
It's not me that's talking about story skippers, that's the producer himself. I've been an avid story/loremonger since I've started, even if my interest in it has done a sharp nosedive since Dawntrail.
Stop being a bigot for a moment and consider where it may actually benefit you as a story enjoyer to have a better fleshed out experience once the skippers are out of the picture with their skip button, will you?
Secretly had a crush on Mao
I can get his point but I kind of hope he shies away from it. I think it's good if they hear feedback and incorporate feedback that works with their plans for the game. But they sway far too often in the wind. I want to see their idea for the game more. I may absolutely hate it and if I do then I'll tell them constructively what isn't my personal cup of tea. But I would be happy to see them establishing a set idea for the game. I feel like that was something we had in the earlier eras of the game and then they started to wobble far too much trying to please every single player and that just won't happen. I do think they can find a happy medium to make things appealing to many but they will need to live with the fact that some may decide to move on and that something like that is okay if it means they are more solid in their vision of the game. It's not me that's talking about story skippers, that's the producer himself. I say the same to all the ppl whom SE heavily caters to, who have no interest in teaming up or having to rely on other ppl. Why are you playing an MMO? But that is met with derision. Which makes zero sense if you think about it at all, since one option only effects the player, but the other effects literally everyone.
Eventually? Sorry buddy but *looks at Dawntrail* that ship has already sailed lol

i think your missing the point of a mmo lol
anyways there solution is to pay 60$ for a skip
realistically i want rewards for people who like alts it can be a achievement a sticker legit anything
FFXIV is marketed as an MMORPG. If caring about the story was mandatory: A. Skipping cutscenes wouldn't be an option and B. They wouldn't sell msq skips.
I have zero interest in the story & i've cleared way more content than you.
Who are you to be telling anyone what they should or shouldn't play?
this game lost the right to say that after it wrote dt as poorly as it did
people are totally justified in wanting to skip after that mess
also the devs themselves dont mind if you skip, long as you pay. by selling story skips, they're effectively admitting that the story isn't a big deal and if you're willing to hand them 20 bucks or w/e, they'll let you ignore it. this isn't a hill worth dying on, friend. not even the devs care. and the writers we have right now clearly don't give a shit about making a good story.

That's a very short-sighted view. Live service MMOs (should) offer more than just a story. If those who enjoy the game exclusively for other reasons were to leave, it would be worse for everyone.
This might sound harsh but there is no roleplaying in this game especially msq. There is even no branching in story based on "choices". Entire msq is worthy being watched on youtube, nothing else.
If anything this game needs account wide msq progress so it becomes alt friendly.
