Demiatma drop rates are unacceptable

Unless I misunderstood, what he meant was likely "a friend would have continued to run FATEs with you until you were done, because one can assume you'd do the same for them if the roles were reversed". My friend group operates the same way.
By running with you, their DPS contributes to the FATE being over quicker, so if they leave you behind not only it sucks because you have to finish farming alone but on top of that it'll be slower too... when my friend needed his last green demiatma, I kept my map open and kept an eye out for any FATEs or CEs that dropped the one he needed, and would taxi us there until he was able to get them all. I know he would have done the same for me.



EDIT: They're also not "suffering" for free, mind you... they still get rewards for participating in a FATE or CE, in or out of Occult Crescent. But I've also farmed duties and FATEs I need nothing from just to help. My friends have done the same for me, because hanging out is also a reward in its own way. I'm not saying your friend must suffer for you, but I am saying it's not a particularly strange thing to see. What the user you're responding to said is nothing odd from my perspective.

It's just been so anti-social on my social front if you follow me. This is making this grind torture.

Off and on in OC and the overworld doing FATEs. I can't stomach OC for too long. To be fair I can't stomach the overworld. But the overworld has worse rates so I need to spend more time in OC. It's just my realm is dead so I have to go to a more lively one and I'm lazy. I've basically been logging on and if I see a FATE party I join one or I start my own. I only have 1 zone I don't need so far.

It's just been really boring.

I know your pain. Is there no FC you can try to ask for help in/join and meet new friends? I've also opened FATE farming PFs outside of OC and had people help me speed up the farm that way (when I was farming gemstones/ranks, but if your quest is active you can also get the forbidden OC candy)


Staying polite and positive can be so hard when you're used to people giving you the cold shoulder, but you must present the best version of yourself (not only for others, but for yourself too!). You never know where you'll meet your future best friend, so don't be afraid to strike up conversations! If no one answers that's just their loss :P we try again in the next duty!

I appreciate it. No the last FC I was in didn't care that I was struggling with it. I kept asking for help and got told maybe later too many times and I quit. It just wasn't good. I have been burned too many times lately so it's hard to jump back into it. Which has made me bitter and that's not fair to the new people I would or could meet.

That's fair. If you somehow find yourself in Europe despite the ping, I can ask some FCs about recruitment. I used to play with ~250ms and had no issues myself, but I know it's not a decision made lightly. I hope you find your dream FC/friend group when you are ready to try again!

I've thought about it. I'm not a "hardcore" player so ping isn't that big of a deal for me. I've just had an awful time with FCs and friend groups since Dawntrail came out. This expansion has just been a pit of despair socially. Every FC I join is either too casual in which they do absolutely nothing in the game together or is a "casual" hardcore FC wanting to get people to fill hardcore stuff. Which doesn't help with stuff like this because either they don't want to help you at all or they want you to help them.

Either way I just got politely asked to leave an OC instance by some people from Sarg so they could have a fresh one and I have ran out of time before I have to go to work.

I've done ultimates on ~250ms ping and cleared unreals on ~500-600ms ping (this one is truly awful, would not recommend lol) and it's not impossible, it just has a skill curve like all things.


I don't think the FCs I was thinking of may be a good fit for you then, I am afraid :< I only know some fairly small FCs. I wish you the best of luck!

The DPS will not contribute in the slightest because fates adjust to the amount of players running them. If you have tried getting into fate trains in DT areas when this atma farm was going full steam ahead, you'd probably have noticed that the first you get into an area your group will trounce through literally everything, and the next fate that will pop will suddenly become a lot more meaty to finish. And if you have the misfortune to have multiple groups farming the area, as soon as half of them leave you're left with fates that will take twice or thrice more time to finish until the area adjusts the new ones accordingly.

I currently have five types of demiatma in my inventory, and I'm only missing a couple from having the required amount of those. However, I haven't yet seen a single drop of Opriment. I'm running OC with my friends, and since we all have different amounts of everything, we're doing every FATE and CE we can. It's so frustrating because I'm still getting drops of the stuff I don't need, but again, no Orpiment. I saw the earlier suggestion of "just do the stuff in the area that drops what you need and watch Netflix in the meantime," but I don't want to watch Netflix. I want to play a damn game. Devs, if your game becomes second-monitor content, you've done something wrong.

For the record, I don't have a problem with relic weapons requiring a grind. It should take some effort, otherwise we get the "accidental relics" from EW that aren't special and don't confer any sense of accomplishment. However, I find endlessly running between FATEs to collect doodads to take up limited inventory space to be some of the most monotonous, mind-numbing "content" in the game. If I could at least level a different job in OC I could feel like I accomplished something, instead of spinning my wheels hoping for a rare drop.

Edit: I just logged in and realized I have six Orpiment demiatma. It's the Realgar that I'm missing completely. It's inconsequential, but my point remains the same. I just felt weird posting wrong information.

IIRC, the only CE that can spawn in the area needs to be manually spawned by killing the mobs in the area, so, between CEs, you can just take a detour and start killing them to (hopefully) make it spawn.

The fact the CEs are such a lopsided spawn in OC doesn't help in making the grind seem reasonable and it is something that needed a system to help reduce the reliance on RNG, which seems to be people's biggest gripe.
