This is getting so dumb now.If someone posted a thread on a restaurant forum talking about how the decision to add carolina reaper sauce to every dish was making the food more difficult for the majority to digest, and was taking away from the enjoyment of the product, neither the few reaper fans claiming it wasn't even spicy and people just had to "practice suppressing their gag reflex" nor some of the unsatisfied customers managing to eventually choke it down would change the fact that the general sentiment is indicative of a real problem the company would be foolish to ignore.
This is not "Carolina Reaper Sauce"
This is a bit of Salt and Pepper.
"It's not spicy to ME. You're dumb if you're allergic to pepper or don't like salt. -I- think it tastes fine." /humblebrag
Clearly the customer is always wrong. Thanks for letting the devs off easy. I know they worked so hard to give us the Shakespearean story arc in Dawn Trail, they can't be asked to create multiple difficulty modes for normal players and the literal gods of awesomeness walking among us mere jealous mortals. If only my parse could compare.
That is true in most games, even the coziest, easiest games get more complex as you sink more time into it. Stardew Valley is a cozy game but as you play the game gets more complex and harder. Now there is a mine, now there is a collection based area with unique rewards. Now you have enough money to have an animal and now there is their upkeep. And the games gives you tools and knowledge to deal with it. Now you have sprinklers to auto water your crops. Now you have auto-feeders for your animals and so on.
FFXIV during Endwalker (to some extent even Shadowbringers) gave more tools to players without challenging them. But now in Dawntrail the challenge increases to a more appropriate level to match the tools we're given and knowledge that the game has trying to impart us. I hate that the game doesn't teach us how to play our jobs or the common tactics players use (CD cycling for tanks, when to AoE, etc.) however from HW (if I remember correctly) they have been showing us that some tells are environmental and orange danger zones can show up late, not for you to react but for to show "This place was dangerous, can you figure out why the next time you see it?". And they're generally consistent with their tells. Rarely a boss raises their sword left but attacks their behind. Or something that shows up later just randomly activates first.
I'm genuinely confused about what people are finding difficult about this dungeon compared to other dungeons. I've seen a lot of people say they found it hard because it was "too fast," but what was too fast? Like what mechanic specifically was tripping you up? And how many times did you try it before giving up? I ask this without judgment, I just want to understand that perspective.
Edit: Also were you playing with Trusts or other players? Or did you try both, and if so how did the experience differ?

I think it's called "Serial Torture" and it's the blades -> giant spiked balls x3 -> blades from the other direction sequence.I'm genuinely confused about what people are finding difficult about this dungeon compared to other dungeons. I kept moving to the safe spot for the blades and forgetting that the spiked balls need to drop FIRST. moving out of the path of the second set of blades would get me splatted by the balls.
I went through as healer the first time, expecting to be able to learn from the Duty Support NPCs, but since each role gets a slightly different set of mechanics.... that didn't help. Healer has to deal with a unique Doom at some point, though.
Thank you for sharing! It sounds like you identified what you were doing wrong and how to correct it, so do you mind if I ask what got in the way of putting that knowledge into action and dodging correctly on a following attempt? Additionally, since you were on a healer did you try pre-shielding yourself for the mechanic and/or having a heal ready so that you would have more wiggle room for mistakes?I think it's called "Serial Torture" and it's the blades -> giant spiked balls x3 -> blades from the other direction sequence.

First run through on healer, got it on the third try.Thank you for sharing! First run through on DPS I was struggling mightily - and realized the timing issue only for a friend go to, "hey you wanna do some maps?" Since I was in with the Trusts I abandoned and went back out.
Bout to try it again with the Trusts. Once I'm convinced I won't immediately die during that mechanic, I'll give Expert roulette a whirl again.
I can prove that level 100 means nothing. I have a level 100 Reaper, but because I haven't played in months, I couldn't even tell you the name of a single skill. Sure, it won't take me long to get back to a basic rotation, but if I had to do the new dungeons right now, I'd be pressing random buttons and hoping for the best.
Also, no need to be nasty, try being kind for a change.
But that's not a gameplay issue, is it? (genuinely asking).I can prove that level 100 means nothing. I came back a week earlier after an 8 month break because I knew I was under-geared and pretty rusty. Got to i740 before patch, and had refreshed enough to finish the msq and get back on savage.
I am nowhere near my previous level, but I was fully conscious that I was not going to do great if I re-subbed on patch day.
Coming back from long break and being able to clear the content in one try would actually be concerning.
I went on a hiatus for almost 5 months due to how awfully empty 7.2 was, OC not being interesting enough to make me resub and resubbed the day the 7.3 patch dropped.I can prove that level 100 means nothing. I played the dungeon on a job that wasn't one of my main dps jobs and cleared the boss on the second try.
And no, I am done being kind to someone who makes asinine comparisons, uses strawman tactics to ignore my points and thinks lack of basic knowledge about the game at level cap is acceptable and demands compassion for that.
