I cleared 'Recollection Ex' with a group of very supportive, and patient, friends who regularly team up on Discord and gave verbal, audio, guidance and let me join because they took sympathy on me when I said I'd love to own the QueensKnight Syrinxi but likely never would as I couldn't do Ex content, particularly not current (at the time) Ex content.

I really wish people would stop using age, medical conditions, or whatever to ask for easier content.
I'm 58 years old, relatively healthy, and can play ego shooters on the highest difficulty rate - so I guess my reflexes are still quite good. But the visual clutter and the unillegible boss emotes of FF14 just kill me. As soon as the boss fires out 15 AEs, then 27 more, then gestures towards the ceiling, the far right corner, and then his butt - I'm dead, as I have no idea what this all means. The game does a horrible job at teaching you what's about to happen next, and I simply refuse to watch guides and memorize all of this garbage.
I would prefer to have an easy mode for all MSQ content; and I would love to have a checkbox in the settings which auto-skips every single MSQ trial - as none of them are ever fun.
Leave the hard content to the people that like hard content, and let me just play through the MSQ. That's not rocket science, no?

I can agree with you on this.

At the end of the day, MSQ and everything MSQ related should cause as little friction as possible, so as many people as possible can clear it. Optional content could be tough but fair (basically along the lines of Dun Scaith when it first launched, that's an example of the perfect difficulty for optional content imo). Extremes/Savages/Ultimates/Unreals can be overtuned to hell to make everything as excruciating as possible to get through. Yeah, the way I laid it out is pretty simplistic. But, in general, I feel like that's a fair start to a framework for addressing content difficulty and satisfying most people.

"All of this garbage" is what the gameplay of FFXIV is though. Maybe you don't like the game?

Some of you in this thread are showing a shocking lack of empathy, awareness, and even basic reading comprehension. The OP never asked for the game to be made easier they simply pointed out that Trusts, which are meant to help slower or disabled players progress through story content, fall short when fight design becomes overwhelming.

Every person is different. That’s not a hard concept. Some of you are teens, some older, but regardless of age or ability, people experience games differently. Just because you don’t struggle doesn’t mean others don’t and dismissing their experience as invalid is both arrogant and cruel.

Telling an older or disabled player “just get good,” or mocking them with comments like “go play Animal Crossing” isn’t just toxic it’s gatekeeping. It’s ableism. And it’s everything this community should be better than. Casual players have just as much right to voice concerns as hardcore players do. You wanted harder content, and you got it. Now let others speak when basic content becomes inaccessible to them.

The level of hostility and exclusion in this thread is genuinely upsetting. If you keep gate keeping casuals, how long do you think Square Enix will keep funding the content you love?

    Do better.

I think they can keep the dungeon the same difficulty or harder, I personally don't mind difficulty in a group, because that can be fun. But if you are running through it with a trust, it should maybe have options or be a little bit more forgiving because the healer AI doesn't cast raise. I ran trust on Meso Terminal because I like to try and learn it before I play with other living people so that I don't hinder their progress with my failure. I died a lot on the second boss (DPS), which wouldn't be an issue if my trust healer would just rez me, but AI Trusts don't rez you when you die, the battle ends and you are sent back to do the fight again. I imagine anyone who does that fight with trusts has far more animosity towards that dungeon then people who didn't.

I get people would probably choose Trusts over real dungeons in a lot of scenarios so SE probably doesn't want them to be easy. But say the first initial run for the MSQ is helpful, then after that it can go back to your Scion Healer friend suddenly being quite content at the thought of letting you die. That way dungeons can still be hard and fun, but people who just want to get through the story can get their dungeon requirement and go along their merry way.

This is such BS. Unless you're 70 and your body is really starting to creep up on you, this is plain wrong. For some reason 30+ years old love to use age as an excuse. Bro, you're just 30... Unless you caught some sickness, your eyesight and reflexes on the decline are on you.

It's going to be so funny seeing Square Enix do what they inevitably do when they can't please everyone...

Completely backpedal on direction and treat it like a yo-yo... Just so I can see some of these putrid responses get met with the same disdain and apathy down the line.

It stinks because that is the whole game. It's just a sad group of losers arguing about how they did something and how it was or wasn't different from how they did it. They'll never lend a hand to help and just continue to denigrate the person struggling. They're the most toxic losers this side of World of Warcraft. I had issues with that boss and I figured it out and did it. I would be willing to help anyone who wants to reach out to me for help. I have zero issues helping people clear.
