How amazing would it be to have something similar to Dynamis from FFXI. Where it's just a big open map with bosses dotted around and truly dangerous trash mobs that were still worthwhile to farm for their drops. A place you could go in and take your own routes, only defeat the bosses you need to defeat, that took actual coordination and care to even navigate through instead of hallways with pointless trash, subpar rewards. They have come so close in Eureka and Bozja, but like dungeons are always hallways, open world content are always fate farms with nothing worthwhile outside of those fates, which are already largely pointless.

I really miss the truly creative and innovative teams SE used to put together for their games, who worked off of more than checklists and comments from streamers.

They all seem to give you five things, but those things aren't all clicky abilities. Some of them can be traits or passives, always on like essences. Presumably not all of the abilities are damaging attacks; there will surely be a dispel, a perception for traps, buffs and debuffs, heals and raises (rezzing inside the Forked Tower will only be possible with phantom job actions).

I wouldn't care about this if we could queue for it over and over to practice. the amount of time you had to wait to even have another attempt was really dumb, which added to that stress and pressure

Thanks for who answered, I watch the LLs but must have missed that part.
Still interested in the area but I have a feeling that BA-like area is going to be yet another mess if it's like that (if you were playing the game when BA was new, you probably know what happened). Hopefully I'm wrong.

This is why I'm hoping it'll be more like CLL/Dalriada; those were "first come first serve" just like BA, but they occurred much more frequently, didn't require extra annoyance for entry(Ovni and Portals), and weren't "claimed" by discord groups. They also weren't Extreme/Savage difficulty so people could just join up randomly as they popped and have a decent chance of clearing.

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

The last two expansions I've learned to keep my expectations low......really low. So, I'm sure they'll "knock this out of the park".

I feel you big time. When people try to say "oh well there are ffxi devs on the the team because thats where they pulled from when making FFXIV" the proper response should always be there are only a handful, and i'm not convinced any of them are combat or world designers lol. Shoot i'm not even sure there are many story or quest designers that are similar either. FFXI had FAR better side quests than FFXIV, that team just didn't have the graphical convenience.

And on a side not when they started talking about Dynamis in End Walker I thought that was the direction we were going. I was SOOOOOO hoping we would have gotten dynamis style raids calling back to the end of days from 1.0 in the 3 major cities. Like how cool would that have been. But naw they butchered the twelve in a raid series, and took what should have been an entire expansion with the void and wrapped it up in post patch content.

I took a long break during Endwalker and spend most of my time chasing after S ranks these days, so I never really got around to doing Orthos. I should.

However, I'm not surprised it didn't get enough love, there are a few legit problems with deep dungeons:

    * The fact that unless you were around when they came out, it can be difficult to "get off the ground" in them, because the queue time for the initial floor sets is basically hopeless most of the time so you either have to hunt down 1-3 friends or try to brave it solo with no aetherpool (this could be pretty rough in HoH and I hear Orthos is rougher).

    * Getting these friends can be a problem because they may not have an open Save Slot (as if both are in use, you can't go in with someone else at all).

    * Servers have been less stable throughout Dawntrail and the whole format is unusually sensitive to disconnects as it is (a solo run is ended instantly and a group run is in danger, especially with the forced queue jump rule that was IIRC designed for 8P Prae but is still in effect for reconnects that essentially 100% prevents the ability to immediately come back after DC).

    * The community for deep dungeons, at least the one I joined for a while back in StB (and which for civility reasons I will not name here), is not good. It quickly devolved into people mostly hiding in the "at least one proven full clear folks only" channel and outside of that almost entirely soloists, at the least it completely failed at being a watering hole for those who needed it most (people still yet to make their first clear and needing to find group mates) as few such runs ever materialized and were almost exclusively on Saturday (not just weekends, specifically Saturday). As with most FFXIV discords, toxic positivity is the rule, too.

I haven't played XI. What would you consider they were doing better?

Deep dungeons would certainly benefit from more shelf life with incentives. Maybe weeklies slowly counting toward some of the optional floor rewards? Idk. I'd like to see PFs crop up regularly for those.
Orthos had a problem that other DDs didn't have, which can be a matter of taste of course but enough voices complained about it: it's way harder because mobs are literally HP sponges and at higher floors it's all about untelegraphed moves that oneshot instantly which makes everything extremely binary (and harder). Bosses are also way more unforgiving for similar reasons.

The wording makes it seem like everyone needs to congregate to one location that they need to coordinate and pop the lottery ticket, but as far as I'm aware that information was spoken and not part of a slide, and I'm far from fluent in Japanese. I also don't think they said anything about how common the lottery tickets(sanguine ciphers) are.
