Thats pretty much not well received even in JP when first launched. They try to recapture the vibes of old MMO, but instead doing a half way job. The issues of old MMO got magnified without the good thingEh, I got bored of slapping around fish while watching the XP bar barely move, the game then gave me a mission with no marker of where to go, and then I got constantly jumped by things while trying to move through an area until I died and gave up.
I don't really know how other people stomached this until they finished it, as I barely made it half an hour before I was sick of it and never wanted to go back.
I lowered my expectations so that hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

It looks good, but I hope it lasts. From what they've shown it's gonna have less content than Bozja which is unfortunate.
The main problem with this game's content release cycle is that the devs spend their time/resources very inefficiently by making low-value, short-form content like dungeons and alliance raids rather than high value, long-lasting content like Eureka and Bozja.
I'm glad we're getting a field operation again, but it feels like they still don't quite understand how important they are. Field operations (and similar content) should be the dev team's primary focus and the core foundation of the game. Ideally it would also make use of the MSQ zones, but they'd have to remove flying for that.
Bring back 6.0 Dragoon.
I’m expecting them to take two steps forward and one step back with some things, just like Bozja. Keeping my expectations tempered, I’m glad we’re getting a field instance after nothing last expansion. I’m expecting some RNG nonsense that will make me grind my teeth but I’ll grin and bear it anyway (looking at you coldboxes and Sartauvoir’s field record).

Expectation? Fate Farming version 7.0 simply because that is all they have really show us they can do with content like this. Eureka and Bozja were just fate farms no matter how they wanted to dress it up. At least in Bozja they added a dungeon.
I just hope its worth doing the actual content for the drops. idr Eureka, but with Bozja it was more efficient to faceroll fates outside of the zones since you were able to get the needed drops absurdly fast, like either 100% guaranteed or close to it, where in the actual Bozja zones it felt like you had a .5% chance of getting anything.

Ngl I was pretty excited for it at first but the closer we get to it for some reason im getting this apathetic feeling where its basically just going to be eureka with the dual action Bozja system, but instead incorporated with phantom jobs which require more grind.
And hot take that I know most won't like it, but I feel they just need to go full tilt and incorporate systems that are still technically in the game with damage types including real elemental damage and resistance, phys/magic, and weapon type damage, and give us a plethora of gear associated with the instance. I mean we basically have a soft confirmation that this wont give us exp outside of the system since you have to be level 100 to enter. So fuck it, make it its own MMO experience. Eureka's elemental wheel was super jank and didn't really have anything to do with real elemental damage or resistance minus there being a new stat labeled "elemental" which acted more like an on off switch. I liked Bozja's combat better because of the extra immediate actions but the zones were boring, smaller, there were less of them, and the gear bonus stuff didn't really come until the end.
Or...... actually start giving us better open world content for limited jobs such as open world dungeons, nm's, and storylines. I would take one or the other.
So though it'll probably be fun while relevant, I think trying to shoehorn FFXIV's game style into a half baked traditional system will always yield and incomplete feeling experience in some way. But idk I guess im the weirdo for liking hybrid theme park and sandbox systems to which Blue Mage I think does well, it's just has a lack of content.

It's wild that they are still barred from entering that content. At this point just let them in. The only thing I can think of is that there is a technical reason they can't enter, or that this game has so little of that content type that they want to milk it for as much as they can so they don't want blue mages going in and making it more beatable. (even though most people in Eureka have already figured the content out and going in as a newbie is pretty easy now).

Ground-level expectations. And yet, I feel like i'll be disappointed. The only bright side is that at least i'll have something to grind that doesn't require sitting in PF.
I really hope one of the initial phantom jobs has something akin to soul of the aetherweaver from Bozja so healers can do semi-competitive DPS out the gate.
