I'm not convinced that Square cares, or that CBU3 cares about making "the best game on the market", at best they might care to make a profitable game.
Wait, so the characters we see in that cutscene are the specific character models of the player??? Like it is in FFXIV??? Bruh, wtf SE! No excuse any more. Holy redpill this post has been.Did you watch the video, most of the cut scenes of it are INGAME! Only the last one was a render scene build with the game engine! And you really thing that they blow other games out of the water?
Star Citizen, 24 minutes of one ingame shot! https://youtu.be/nWm_OhIKms8
That is how you blow other games out of the water! Because that is the future of an MMO, not what square enix delivers.
And you open a serious question! A company who want about 60$ per patch! WHY could they do not deliver us such a quality? Money is not the reason, they make more than enough!
Lyse is great if you play in Japanese. The English VA totally butchered her character.
Generally depressive mood? I'm not gonna argue with you about the other points you raise, but at least in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, the mood was very much not depressing. I've never seen so many giggling and happy couples in my life. It was peak. The thing is Japan is a country where you do not live unless you have to. (i.e. native). Country in a steep decline, no one wants to have kids, generally depressive mood, overcrowded, pointless language to learn and bad living conditions compared to most states or Scandinavian/EU countries and the ‘gaijin in Japan stint’ stopped being a thing around 30 years ago.
I'm obviously not even touching more delicate topics like ingrained racism and xenophobia.
I know that the diehard weebs with their ‘hinomaru’ bandanas don’t want to hear it but South Korea has already surpassed Japan big time and if you want to learn a future-proof and actually valuable Asian language it’d be Mandarin.

It is a bit apple to orange comparison.
I am not software developer but the crystal tool engine FFXIV built in is over 15 years old. It is not impossible the FFXIV might already push near the limitation of the engine.
One in a life time when the star align we might see FFXIV on the new CBU III engine.
If they wanted to do that, the DT and graphics update hype was the moment to do it. At least then they could have said "We understand a lot of people are disappointed but we've moved to a new engine so a lot of long standing requests can be done now", even if they were lying about the latter part.

The whole modded character models show how good the graphics can be even with the old engine. The engine is not the problem. The unwillingness or incompetece of the game devs/designers is the problem.
Cheers
Sometimes you just have to let go.
FF14 is not just a video game. It's a representation of the stagnation of the Japanese economy, a window into their brain drain problem and their shrinking population and talent pool, an image of a nation in decline on the world stage.
Even with Nintendo you can see the decline, and that's a company that sucks up the remaining talent in Japan.
Feel free to check my post history and see for yourself whether I'm a SE white knight or not.
I was planning to make a full argument for all your points here, but considering you don't even get what I asked/was talking about, I doubt this debate will be meaningful.
Also, please speak like a normal human being. It's annoying to see so many exclamation marks.

Why isnt this systemically more complex and old game more like this systemically simpler and newer game??+?+++
