This is a event hosted by two Japanese firms using a platform know to both Western and Eastern.
Whatever you people's beef with platform X don't really matter
Bluesky?
It is not known to Eastern yet, whether you like it or not.

Google AI disagrees:
"While exact numbers fluctuate, Japan is among the top countries with Bluesky users, with a significant portion of the platform's user base, and has seen growth driven by functionality and privacy concerns related to X (formerly Twitter)."
The same Google AI that gave such gems of truthful information that doctors recommend smoking 2-3 cigarettes daily during pregnancy.

Bluesky is booming in Japan — mainly for reasons other than U.S. politics
"Japanese social media users are quickly taking to Bluesky and other X alternatives, with data suggesting the start of a durable trend.
According to Similarweb, monthly active user numbers for Bluesky on Android in Japan quintupled in the 12 months to October, while figures for X were down over that time.
And daily active user numbers increased on Bluesky into the first two weeks of November.
Analysts and academics note that the U.S. presidential election and the accompanying polarization have probably had little to do with the Bluesky boom in Japan. It might have had more to do with functionality and privacy.
“Most Japanese users pay little attention to the U.S. culture war,” argues Jeffrey J. Hall, a researcher specializing in Japanese politics, nationalism and pop culture.
“Changes in terms of service regarding AI (artificial intelligence), changes in the block feature and the presence of so many bot-like ‘impression zombie’ accounts are viewed negatively by Japanese users,” he added."
And so on.
I remember this, the reason BlueSky was growing during that time with Japanese users was because X:Twitter was bringing down the ban hammer on a lot of Japanese Ero Artists; L■li artists in particular were getting hit particularly the hardest. People were creating backup accounts enmasse incase their ban appeal fell through and seek refuge to enjoy their smut on the meantime. Misskey.io saw it's biggest boost during this time period as well. Most artists were told to tone it down and managed re-gain their accounts as far as I'm aware. It was quicker than quoting one of the source articles.

Clearly there are many reasons why people choose a specific social media platform or avoid social media altogether.I remember this, the reason BlueSky was growing during that time with Japanese users was because X:Twitter was bringing down the ban hammer on a lot of Japanese Ero Artists; L■li artists in particular were getting hit particularly the hardest. The OP is not arguing the merits of any platform, simply suggesting that restricting a contest to a single, highly-polarizing platform, is the sort of tone-deaf mistake one is starting to expect from SQEX.
Oh, my bad! I just read latest post and that article and was like Oh! I remember that! lol I should have probably seen what this thread was really about.Clearly there are many reasons why people choose a specific social media platform or avoid social media altogether.

I'm sure someone has touched on it somewhere on here but it's advertisement. I believe Japan is still X:Twitters 2nd biggest market next to US. Its unfortunate to have to go to a third party but that's how advertisement works. It's definitely a big time drag.
