Can I have my Scions back?

I mean, are all of them working together as a team including Thancred, Estinien and Urianger? I like the new characters but I don’t think the MSQ is magical anymore and that is making me upset. We could have Thancred watching for clues about new Sphene, Urianger and Yshtola talking about the Endless, Estinien fighting against the machines and with only that 7.2 would be so much ALIVE.

I'm tired of the scions. They all know the WoL too much, and can't oppose the WoL at all. Even Thancred couldn't seriously oppose the WoL and had to playfight you instead. I think new characters is the right direction.

Zero was never going to be A Thing. I've watched a lot of sci-fi tv and she had "And Special Guest Star Tillda Swinton as Zero" energy all over her. She was never going to join the Scions or Students or whatever. It would maybe have been an interesting dynamic but you have to remember, the Japanese place a high emphasis on "Agreeability" , socially. ESPECIALLY among friends. Any character with friction was never going to stay, I mean they have a track record of writing them out or just killing them off. Moenbryda, Ysalye, Fordola, the list goes on. Hell, it would have been compelling as shit to have ZENOS join us, in true Dragon Ball, "I defeated you, therefore I befriend you" fashion... but considering how rabidly some people hated him, that was NEVER going to happen.

And frankly, given what we've gotten in DT so far, I would rather just have the Scions back, thank you. I find it funny that people are tired of them, when they've only recently started getting characterization.

I mean, people talk shit about Y'shtlola, like she didn't spend almost the entirety of HW in the lifestream.

And almost the entirety of Stormblood in the hospital.

And half of Shadowbringers hiding innawoods.

No wonder she's barely a character, she's been half-dead for nearly the entire game. She's barely even BEEN a character. Granted, all of their characterization has been completely run off the rails by Yawntrail, but that's not their fault as characters that the writers just didn't realize their stories had progressed. Honestly, it feels like Hiroi stopped paying attention to them after ARR and just... wrote them like they were back then, bland exposition dumps with barely any personality. I could go on and on about how their characterization got absolutely shit on in DT, but I won't. My point is, there's literally only one compelling character in the "new DT cast", and she was JUST introduced to us in 7.2.

Scion should've died in Endwalker, Now you're just auto given solution to any problem by introducing a scion.

They had to actively lower their collective IQ by 75% so Lamat would work.

I'm still on EW and I'm already tired of the Scions except for Ali, Alphi, and Estinien. I absolutely despise how they neutered my boy Graha. He was so cool and had an edge to him in CT. I distinctly remember hoping that he'd become a Scion while I was playing CT. But now where I'm at in EW he's become basically a boring Haurchefant.

Reasons why the scions are boring
1. They will never be in danger due to plot armor, can't really get invested much into characters who will never be at any risk.
2. they've already had full on development.
3. Some personalities are a bit dry and bland.
4. They are only really filler NPC's that show up so people can go "wow it's the scions!" but they don't actually do or say anything because again they've already had full on development, theirs no real reason for them to be here or to grow in the story.


The game would be better if they focused on a new cast of characters, right now we get like one unique main character (which we've seen with zero and wuk lamat) but problem is that they become the only focus because the scions tag along (so you can't have too many other characters), so that they become to only actual focus to the point where it becomes annoying and boring, even worse if you don't really like them. Scions do not add anything to the story so dont even say much, they are just filler cast characters.

If you had a new cast that each could get a decent focus then, you'd most likely at least like one of them, if not more besides you can actually play more risks with them perhaps even have it so not everyone makes out of these "dangerous situations" alive.
