Well, the game did release in 2010. Sure, maybe they're forgetting to factor in that 'we are now in 2025' doesn't really count because we're only 21 days in, and sure, maybe they're also forgetting to factor in the 10ish months of time the game went offline to turn it into ARR. But I'd say it's entirely possible for someone to say 'I've played a healer in FFXIV for 14 years' and it be mostly true
As for how many people have participated in the thread, I'd link the spreadsheet that one person made to try and show that either A: the people complaining are too casual to have any understanding of how Healer kits work in high end content (the content they're really designed for), or B: that the people complaining are too hardcore to understand how the things they're asking for will ruin the casual's play experience, and so said hardcore player is out of touch. Unfortunately, said spreadsheet no longer seems to exist, likely because the person saw the data show that actually, we have some casuals, some hardcores, and everything in between. Plus, it was incredibly silly of them to imply that 'level of skill/content completed = how much of an opinion you're allowed' when it comes to something as wide reaching as 'job design'.
We've had a lot more unique posters than '20 plus some alts'. We might not be 'the majority', but there's no need to make up numbers like that, it makes your argument/stance on the matter look incredibly fragile
As for 'how many Healers do we have in the playerbase, vs how many DPS/Tank', the only numbers I've seen about the topic came from someone who was diametrically opposed to me on the subject. And the numbers they quoted showed that HW actually had the highest 'percentage of playerbase' as Healer mains, at almost 25%. Ever since SB, it's been lower, with a small bump in EW due to SGE's release but never reaching those HW peaks again. So, if the changes over the years that were meant to attract non-Healers to the Healer role, haven't, then why keep going down the road when we can see it's not working? Sunk cost fallacy? Too much pride to admit to failures? We may never know, which is sad, because FFXIV was reborn from its potential 1.0 induced death precisely because they were able to say 'we messed up and we're going to work to fix it'
