Agree. Bigger is not better. Criterion was infinitely better than chaotic for 2 main reasons.

    1) It's easier to organise a group of 4 to do something outside of your usual savage/ultimate prog.
    2) Smaller group size means there's less waiting for other people to not mess up.

I think they should have gone with criterion again but dropped criterion savage and experimented with different rewards.

The playerbase has shown it cannot handle 24 man content when it's even simple stuff like regular alliance raids
It's an absolute mess in chaotic

Well that's happen when you develop content that can be clear without looking at the screen (normal/msq).

The community expects things to be easy, 0 effort.

What's particularly lacking in FF14 is content between normal and extreme difficulty.

I believe it would have been better to make it more accessible than a savage-level raid.
It's a shame that Square Enix missed the opportunity to create 24-player content that's accessible to everyone.

I'm convinced this content would have been more successful if it had truly been positioned between normal and extreme difficulty.

Especially since we don’t really have much content, and only experimented players enjoyed themselves with patch 7.1.
A clear had 70 damage downs and 3 heal lb3s, I genuinely think people are judging it WAAAAY too fast

Give it a week or so, let people get used to it, and you will start seeing the experienced players run along the new players for that bonus, helping them learn and making up for their mistakes

Also, its very funny how RDM is desired over Picto for Chaotic because of the ressing

It will inevitably become easier over time, but the problem is that the rewards are easy to obtain, so the content will quickly die out.

It’s simply a shame that it’s not accessible to a broader portion of players.
It’s not insurmountable content, but difficult content will never be popular in FF14.

As I mentioned, there isn’t really any content that offers a light challenge, allowing casual players to participate as well.
People are already reluctant to engage with difficult 8-player content, so with 24-player content, it will become much harder over time to find enough players than to actually clear it.

A lot of people have been praising the new chaotic as being a lot of fun. Given the reactions, this might be the most acclaimed piece of content besides the raid tier. Kudos to Square Enix for giving people what they want.

Also, it’s not about whether content is successful, it’s about winning. As in, your side (hardcore raiders) winning over the casuals who don’t post here. The game could die but you are still winning because you just gotta “get gud” and “stop whining”. FFXI, Guild Wars 1 and classic WoW are still played among the hardcore crowd. They won. There are plenty of games for us regular folk, like retail WoW or “hitting the bar” (MMOs are dead). FFXIV isn’t for us and that’s fine. “Get gud or get out”, as they say.

I'm unsure if they're trying for extreme sarcasm or serious. I'm no savage raider, never will be I simply don't have the memory for it, but I think the challenge provided so far is fair, unlike a certain hole in the 7.1 dungeon - The number of times I've fallen in there trying to heal or keep uptime is higher than the number of times I've failed to clear P1 of this raid.

So I also want to give my feedback on this.

I think in itself the raid is fun. It has cool mechanics that are kinda quick too learn and till now (start of phase 2) most stuff is good to do.

    That said.
The difficulty in my opinion is too high.
This is straight up savage level for something that should have been Ex level for 24 man.
It does leave a bad taste after savage, an ultimate and whatever criterion was that we have now yet another content for high end raiders instead of midcore.
It will devolve into a pure Discord thing in the future.

24 people is also hell to get and even more hell to keep.
Far too easy for a few to wipe everything and to leave the party. I think with 24 people a tone down of the punishment with the doom would have been good.

In phase 1 the hand mechanic while not hard can be an utter nightmare with the netcode and bad ping.

The visual clutter can be quite... a lot sometimes.

All in all while the idea is good the difficulty for the next raid could need a slight tone down. We need more midcore content on Ex level at most and not yet another savage fight for the high end raider players.
Also and I am sorry to say that but the community is not good enough (personality not skill) for that.
It's the first day and I am already seeing raidplans for the entire fight or higher Ilvl demands than necessary leaving out newer players who didn't dip into this content before and for whom I think it was originally intended to be given the bonus system.
And I imagine this will only get worse the later it gets.

I mean I expected RDM to be more wanted because of that exact reason lol.

My issue is that I wish they didn't decide to release this on what I consider a really stupid time: Christmas week when a lot of people are not even playing, some not even going to be back until New Year's. Saw maybe one of the big streamers streaming this morning and that was about it. Not to mention there wasn't much in this patch to begin with, so a lot of people won't even bother to get on. The only item that you can't get without running it is the one mount. If the timing affects numbers enough that they see it's low, I consider that a failure, regardless how good the raid actually is.
