    Rez tax is really weird to me. The way I see it, before EW RDM was the easiest caster to play and thus had lower dps, and the utility was there to make up for that. Then EW reworked SMN to be the easiest caster, but they still balanced it like it used to and had it stronger than RDM for the better part of the expac, and rez tax seemed more like an their excuse for their poor balancing.

    The current order of BLM > PCT > RDM > SMN in full uptime seems right to me, though RDM probably should be closer to BLM/PCT going by how PCT and BLM are now (SMN kinda belongs down there).

    Yeah I had the same power issues with AST when I approached it from WHM in EW and again after DT came out, WHM main things, back in EW it also severely punished all my WHM bad habits. I stuck with it though, learned to heal earlier, plan further, all that lovely stuff and the DT cards while less random do afford me a level of flexibility I wish WHM had - Yes WHM can drop a regen, a mit and a shield on someone in one GCD just the same as AST can but AST gives me that multiple times in multiple ways.

    Anyway, back on point, WHM has so much raw power on tap and I love it (I really do) and there's a degree of satisfaction in that, AST's satisfaction comes in a feeling of absolute battlefield control when you do it right, similar to SCH in my experience. When I do both right they feel just as good as WHM.

    As SCH, however, I feel it hitting as hard as WHM. Potencies wise. It's clunky as well, but it is on a bearable level. And its shields is something that really makes the difference when soloing. Lost the count of how many times critlo saved my sorry arse from a tankbuster.

    I feel that I just need to understand better the late kit and build confidence to make the switch.
    I'm glad you get along better than I do with SCH, I see people like Supersnow touting it as being insanely powerful but I've never really experienced that first hand, it might just be my failing - SCH never really clicks with me the way WHM does.

    Shhhh, don't let Square know we're still having fun with RDM, they'll take a sledgehammer to it by 7.3 if they suspect enjoyment.

    Admittedly, RDM is one of the few jobs I feel that has legitimately improved each expansion. At worst the change to Manafication can be seen as a dumbing down, but you can still potentially overcap if you use it at 82+ mana.

    I found the SCH was still able to heal alright when I was levelling the class from 91 - 100. I may not agree with the lore of Dissipation making the fairy "go away", but it does pair extremely well with Recitation to make a mega critical Adloquium shield. Expedient also works pretty well if the mega shield is still not enough, although I haven't really needed to use this third cooldown since the tanks are pretty sturdy at the high levels. With how the class plays, we basically have to memorize which cooldowns use the fairy and which ones "don't need her". Attempting to mix the 2 cooldown sets together may not produce good results.

    As for the AST, their cooldowns more require patience waiting for the Earthly Star and Macrocosmos to build up to their maximum values. Even though the cards have a lot less RNG, the healing cooldowns still need more pre-emptive planning to make the most out of them.

    Their other heals, and RDM Vercure, at least work, so if you get flack for using those in emergencies, you're only using the tools available to salvage a run.

    I genuinely have no idea how people feel any sort of power in WHM

    Maybe it’s just because I’ve been a shield healer main for longer than 14 had been around but WHM feels like the biggest waste of a party slot. It just doesn’t DO anything. Any meaningful heal check in this game is a mit check and WHM provides less mit than PCT or MCH let alone the other healers. Sure it can make HP bars “go up” faster than the other three but when is that ever actually a concern in this game. Not to mention glare 3’s animation is nowhere near as impactful as the stone family.

    IDK but u feel completely useless on WHM. I just have to stand around doing near nothing and hoping the other party members will keep me alive so then I can throw out some pointless heals the other healers could do just as easily as me despite it being my “niche”

    Like it feels terrible having no advantage

    The only advantage of today’s WHM that I could think of is only extensive amount of free raises they can pull off vs other 3 healers. Well and I guess “panic Cure III”. Damage done used to be a somewhat valid reason to pick up WHM at some point in ShB (CMIIW here)—they even outdpses tanks in those times. Today? Also taken away.

    Meanwhile Astro has better mp economy and lightspeed to do speed raises. Panic CureIII feels nice when it's needed and works out but that's a very specific and bad situation.


    But hey you actually have GCDs to use

    Even cure 3 barely counts as a niche anymore

    Neutral aspected Helios and Seraphism ET accession are both stronger than it (neutral assuming the shield cracks between GCD’s)

    Like when do you ever need more cure 3’s than can be covered by the duration of neutral sect or seraphism (both of which provide mitigation as well since they provide shields that propagate faster as well as their healing and sun sign)

    Oh there is : You can dish enough healing power without the need to press 40 button before pressing a heal button.
    It also the Healer with the most MP free heal and the one with the most useless ressource (you use all your other heal button before using a Lilly)..... Your MP mostly goes into Glare Spam.

    To sum up, the advange of the WHM it's being simple and straightforward.

    Ah also, it's not being a SGE, which it's really the one without advantage at all (what a SGE can do, all the others can do it better)
