There's no need to try and convince people of anything, the moment any healer asks themselves the question of "What else can I do to help my party?", the illusion of the healer role being well-designed will immediately break.

There's already been quite a number of people who say they're new to the healer role and are wondering if it ever gets any fun. There's also been people who were previously fine with the healer role after ShB that are also now fed up after 2 expansions of stagnation and no hint of the 'building from a new foundation' promised by the dev team after the ShB rework.

Now that's just hilarious. I thought the "build from a new foundation" was just a fever dream cooked up by the white knight co. who drank too much koolaids. Is that something that they (devs) actually promised to us? If so, do you remember when this was actually spouted?

I don't remember any statements from the devs saying that ShB jobs would be a foundation to build off of, so I just took the statement of "building from new foundations" to be something the players came up with to justify what ShB started.

If someone does have a source from the dev team saying that ShB jobs were a foundation to build off of, mind dropping a link?

It's been 6 years since ShB launch, so it's hard to say if it's a dev statement or if it's some quote created within the community and passed around for so long that it's accepted as truth.

Although I do vaguely remember some statement about rebuilding jobs, although that might have been aimed at MCH in particular.

Part of the problem resides in the fact that for a majority of players, 'doing more to help my party' is not something that ever crosses their mind, as long as the game says 'you win' they are happy, even if the 'you win' screen was achieved by pressing literally nothing as they die to the first mechanic and watch the tank solo the boss from 95% to 0% over the course of 10mins

The majority of the problem though, is not that this is possible. I don't particularly care if someone does the bare minimum, I don't pay their sub, hell, if I was in charge of designing the healer kits, I'd actually make the 'bare minimum' even more accessible, why not

Instead, the majority of the issues seem to stem from SE making it so that this 'bare minimum' is so close to the maximum. Like, it's sad to say this, but if a WHM player asks 'how can I contribute more in a fight to help my party', the current best advice is unironically 'step 1: equip Soul of the Astrologian'

You know, the job that every expansion is only get new (verCool) finisher and some potency buff to not let it fall, DPS Wise, under the Ranged Physical.

Be realiste please.... Healer, Ranged Physical, RDM and SMN are the jobs partially or completly ignored for years now. (except when it come to do a crappy rework)

Only Tanks, Melee DPS, BLM and now Picto matters.

It's more a blessing the job hasn't been caught up in their reworks imo. I love how it feels and I don't trust them being able to retain that feel if they try anything too new with it.

From what I've seen on the forum it could be said that being forgotten is the best thing that could happen to RDM, if they remembered it existed - much worse decided to change it, it would probably be SMN mk2.

I mean to be fair PCT shows the caster role isn’t completely dead as PCT is unironically a fantastically designed class

We would far more likely see SMN than PCT but between PCT and SCH the only semblance of decent modern job design exists in the caster role
