Heya!

You know what would be great? Having a One-time Activation code generator included in an ipothetical FFXIV application.
That would solve problems like "I forgot/lost/destroyed/ate the token!". That came out of my mind when I thought about the Blizzard Authenticator. What do you think?

This. I got my authenticator with my FFXIV preorder, but I know I'm gonna lose that thing one of these days. I actually had a cousin who wanted to see and was thinking of starting FFXIV when I was up in Massachusetts for New Year's, but I couldn't show her because I left my authenticator at home. Meanwhile, I was playing WoW with my cousins half the time I was there because I had my authenticator for that on my phone.

I could definitely go for a retainer/AH manager app, something simple but useful for when I can't get to my computer. A way to chat with people ingame would be awesome though, I can't think of a single MMO that has something like that, so this would be a nice thing to pioneer.
