Here Ye Here ye! You are Known throughout the land!

Been a while since I've made my very own thread! *hugs thread* lawl But I haven't been on forums in a few days *sheds a tear*

So I had an idea come to me while listening to Windurst Theme Music.. I think it would be fan-tab-ulous! To have your characters have more impact on the world & more NPC interaction, know-what-im-say-yo?

Like city guards that actually run to your aid if you're being chased by monsters.. You remember being chased by orcs into sandy and the elvaan guards would just watch you.. curse those guards!

Like the quests you take/decisions you make have an impact on how NPCs treat you & interact *shocked face!* Both in dialogue & interaction, like vendors may holler at you to come buy their goods, npc kids might follow you around a little, guards salute you, you get better access to quests/items/discounts etc. You become hated by some, loved by others.. I've never rly played Fable but I know they have something similar I think? Anyway it's not a fable rip off.. just an Idea that when I went to windy I never felt interaction, was just npcs there. Best interaction I felt was in a PS2 game where you drew objects with colors you collected and the vendors would always holler at you to buy their crap, made me feel like I rly was at a market.

How about saving villages from monsters? and seeing a difference over time? IDK I just think for once i'd like to make a difference damnit! How about the local saloon could be a place to find out information on things, etc etc... I'll let the imagination run red with this one.. curse those orcs!

As far as guards that run to your aid, I suppose it depends on how the areas are designed in 2.0. In 1.0 I never found myself running -all- the way back to the city to escape a tougher monster. Typically monsters near the city gates don't aggro, and the ones that do aggro give up on you after awhile.

Having a more interactive/responsive city would always be fun. Granted, as far as kids following you around for a bit, with the number of players typically crowding around in a city, you're gonna run out of kids in short order... then NPCs shouting at you specifically to buy their stuff... hopefully that's localized to each player else we're gonna get

HEY Elficus Pointyearicus! Buy my stuff!
HEY Lalataru Fellshort! Buy my stuff!
HEY Badname Imagination! Buy my stuff!
HEY howfardoI needtogowiththis! Buy my stuff!

As long as they implement it wisely, I wouldn't mind. X)

Well perhaps more voice acting than actually chat box, cuz thatd get annoying extremely fast. Like the actual hustle & bustle sights & sounds you get when ur in a crowded place. Idk just feels a bit detached. Maybe I wanna take my character to the saloon and get drunk with some of the locals... maybe some gambling.. catch up on stories around town.. ya know? Instead of sitting around town reading boring shouts or no shouts at all :-(

Stuff like them running to your aid wouldn't work well as there's too many players. You'd end up with people using them like PLs or something. And I don't want NPCs shouting at me to buy crap. I don't like it in real life, I wont like it in my videogames. But signs of me actually having a reputation within dialogue and such I could go for. I hate when NPCs are all "lol, noob" and I'm thinking "You know, I saved the world, and thereby YOUR ass".

    Good idea OP.

Also I'll like to add, lets say you reach a high rank in your Grand Company and did a few tough missions. I'll like it if the devs allow some NPC's around town to take notice of our deeds, and solute us or say something in the chat box about a mission we did.

You mean like in skyrim, where you can come to the aid of someone being attacked by a bear, you kill said bear, they then to proceed to try and kill you, then a guard arrests you as a criminal for trying to help? no thx.
