Y'know what would be amazing (despite the fact that it would give other players an advantage?) A DoH addition to the app. You could log on, view your items, and craft with them. I'd be all over that in the doctor's office, in a long line, or in the car xD.

sorry for necro-ing, but i kind of forgotten about this until today where i accidently left my security token back @ home town, and is a freaking 8 hour drives back :|

Can any reps help asking Yoshi about this to get implement it? darn token.

Thought I would post this comment from Yoshida in the RPG Site Interview as it seems relevant.

RPGSite: Have you considered bringing FINAL FANTASY XIV to the PlayStation Vita?
Yoshida: Yes, currently this is all post-2.0, but because we’re doing a reconstruction of our server system, in those plans, we’re going to make sure that the servers can be accessed by outside devices such as smart phones. Not just the Vita, but also smart phones, so that kind of access will be allowed. What that will open the door to is things like applications that people can used to check their inventory, or check the market and purchase things from the auctions. Those are the things we are laying for in our server foundation, so we can be ready to implement those after 2.0.

For example, beyond that, maybe an application that lets you raise your chocobo, and then transfer it back into the game.

2) Let us see our currently equipped gear and their condition so that we can look at our phone instead of going into the menus to see what broke while in a party/event that requires constant movement.

It was in the live letter that Yoshi-P wants to allow external access to the servers to manage retainers, check the wards/AH etc from a smartphone I am hoping they will include an authenticator in the app they are planning to make.

Q: When is the smart phone app for FFXIV coming?
A: As we are developing the 2.0 sever, we wanted to make sure that external access will be possible (such as from an smart phone). For example, to allow players to organize items in their bags or retainers via their smart phone, check the markets, and play the chocobo farm as I mentioned earlier. But this will be half a year after 2.0 goes live.
