just the first paragraph, i already HATE your ideas
k thx bye
I vehemently disagree with the weird notion of "you will never please everyone, therefore you shouldn't even try". The fact that you can't make a problem go away doesn't mean you shouldn't try to lessen it. MMOs absolutely should cater different kinds of content for different kinds of players, or at least attempt to.
I guess, they do not have the ressources to do that. Offside the Final Fantasy series, SQEX produces too many financial desasters. OK, it's not Ubisoft- or Sony-level but their financial reports show, that the Final Fantasy series basically carries the rest of the company. The strangely unfinished state of DT is a typical symptom, that they ran out of time. I am curious how long they will need to fix all issues, which they introduced with the graphical update.
Cheers
As a whole Im just really baffled on how much some of the community is against the game evolving faster and partake in dev defending. Like its not their job to innovate, compete and be better, faster and more staffed with the money we pay MONTHLY
Example: We want chat bubbles. "But I hate how it will clog the screen!" "On and off toggle?" "STILL NO >" This was an actual conversation on the forums and I think it was said some JP players were against it too
So I'd have to stand and stare at mobs while doing the MSQ and (even more) slowly watch their health whittle down before I can move on?
Hard pass
Give us more party buffing/mob debuffing options though, slide us more towards support, might be (more) fun.
Might, if it weren't for the fact that this very expansion, SE decided to do the exact opposite, and reduced the amount of buffing/support AST could give out (going from 4 cards per 2min down to 2) in favour of 'here is a big hit OGCD once per 2min, because people didn't like the RNG of the RNG-activity-inspired job'
I agree with OP though, there's a lot more effort that could be put into making, not everyone happy, but 'more than currently'. Just giving up and not even trying, on the assumption that 'you can't please everyone', is the path towards mediocrity, and nobody wants FFXIV to be thought of/remembered as 'the game that was great, and then got lazy and mid'
Is not just here, but in any other MMO...As a whole Im just really baffled on how much some of the community is against the game evolving faster and partake in dev defending. Like its not their job to innovate, compete and be better, faster and more staffed with the money we pay MONTHLY

People just feel so entitled they don't even want the idea of other players using something they don't like, despite being optional. Let it be features, cosmetic features, etc.
They should try, but there comes a point sometimes where that isn't possible, and the director needs to decide who to side with. That is why they are a leader, to decide things like that. Yoshi-P has explained this before, so he understands fully that there will be times where he has to make a decision on which perspective to side with.
Not against it evolving faster.
Why not? It's important to be polite to other people and show them respect and consideration for the struggles they face, even if you would like things to be better.and partake in dev defending
Like life is that easy? When people make a lot of money, they discover it's not always that easy. Perhaps you want someone to do a job, but maybe no money would make someone want to do it. Maybe if they will do it, they won't be that good at it. Maybe nobody really has the skills to do it. Maybe it takes a lot of time to recruit and train them and this has to compete with the rate people retire/switch jobs.Like its not their job to innovate, compete and be better, faster and more staffed with the money we pay MONTHLY
Sometimes SE is advertising a job for months or even years and struggling to get people to the point of advertising them in live letters and at fanfests. Then it takes time to train them to specifically work on FFXIV and all the internal procedures they have.
I don't want them personally but if there is an off toggle it's fine. They are working on them anyway and I believe there will be a toggle for it.Example: We want chat bubbles. "But I hate how it will clog the screen!" "On and off toggle?" "STILL NO >"
That would imply that people here are even defending square out of a desire to keep other people from content when they themselves have content when really they don’t have any content either, they just view their parasocial relationship with the game and its devs as more important than treating it as a game that can and should improve
People view an insult on the game as an indirect insult to themselves because they don’t want to be seen playing a dying game. I know……I went through this myself when RuneScape did EOC in 2011
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Anyone who says 'no stop complaining, trust the devs they know what they're doing' should just look at RS3 and the EOC incident. When the devs receive no pushback and no guidance on 'hey you think this is a good idea but it's kinda not', we end up with a game that is permanently damaged. RS3 is forever going to be on death's door because of that decision over 10 years ago. OSRS has vastly overtaken the 'actual game' in playercount
Funny that the desire to avoid being perceived as playing 'a dead game' eventually leads people to acting in a way that causes the game to stagnate. We can see it here with the whole Healer discourse/argument, there's a massive shortage of Healers and anyone who's able to see the PF listings would be able to see that there's a whole lotta green slots compared to blue/red, but there's always someone waiting in the wings to jump in and say 'well actually it's quite full on my server', completely ignoring the multiple screenshots showing a clear pattern of 'people don't want to play healer in PF'
