The "Ron" narrator sounded like a woman, but in an even-keeled tone that didn't require any extremes.

The last character that was a man actually sounded really good and wonder if that is her recent voice or pre-transition. If that is her starting point I can see female roles being a struggle.

True on the tone, but I think Ron's meant to be a guy - looks to be the usual anime type where it's this guy witth the soft-spoken nerdy tone. The tone of your voice is sadly a genuine limitation in how many other things are. My voice isn't remotely deep, and since I actually DM quite a bit, I've practiced in an attempt to voice NPCs that aren't just men, but it really does not work on my end. Hell, I can do /gnolls/, but not women. Even in a casual game setting, so professionally, it sadly just makes things far worse. There are absolutely people that can do it, but everything I've seen indicates that Sena can't, at least not without being able to emote much at all.

I don't think the VA work on the on the other roles is bad at all - fine to good, honestly, but someone like Wuk is just not remotely workable. Or Wukable, if you would.

Yes I wasn't sure what that character was supposed to be. But if I had my eyes closed and had to guess, I'd guess a woman for that one.

Meanwhile, the final male voice was actually quite good - I think there is talent to be found with Sena but not for the character they chose. I don't think Sena wants to voice male characters - I have no idea since she included it on her demo. But she probably could have gotten a lot of praise over either a female character with a more limited role that didn't require yelling or too much emotion, or a male character.

Again ,it's the unfortunate case where you just run into genuine biological issues. I'm absolutely happy to agree that - putting aside the...at best /dubious/ tweets that have drawn a lot of ire for good reason, Sena can put out good work when the role permits it. IMO, if they want to voice female characters that don't require much yelling or emotion, a good pick would be AI or Robots, you can turn limitations into a strength there - genuinely.

Even within roles matching our biological sex, there are certain tones I couldn't reach even if I had a shred of acting talent.

It feels like the casting directors really did Sena a disservice. They should have cast in a better suited role. I think she's good enough to get work, but wow they did her zero favors here.

Yeah, casting was an issue too. I have an issue with a LOT of the EN VN work, not remotely just Sena. Not entirely sure if it was Kate or someone else entirely that decided on the roles for folks, but they did a baaaaaad job.
