Imagine you go to the park and get a pick-up game of soccer/football underway. Everyone is having fun kicking the ball around getting some fresh air and exercise and engaging in some friendly competition.

Then a small group turns up. One of them announces that she is captain. She immediately starts issuing orders, telling the other players where to go and what to do. Her group turn out to be the midfield of Man Utd's cup-winning women's team.

How do you suppose all the other players feel about this?
They turn up on the field, tell them they're playing like garbage, tell them they shouldn't even be participating, and forces them to read a guide full of strategies on how to play one way specifically that isn't fun, (And honestly isn't relevant to most solo players.) and tells them if they don't like it they have an L-take and to go away, stomps the other side, and then boasts about their winrate and wonders why everyone has a negative impression of them.

Exactly this, then they have the creeping mendacity to claim that their motives are somehow altruistic. These self-appointed commander-gatekeepers might be less despised if they'd simply be honest about their motivations.
