The first two songs are the best and incidentally are Uematsu's from original soundtrack.
I don't know who's doing these new songs, but they sound pretty forgettable.
There's like 80 amazing tracks on the original soundtrack which any game designer would love to use, so I doubt the dev team would just trash all that hard work. I know they are fond of trashing stuff for no reason, but they're not that stupid surely.I just realized: They made much PR with the fact that Uematsu was making the music for FFXIV. Now they totally re-release the game. Will there still be the Uematsu-Music? Or will it be totally replaced? What leads me to the question: Is it really necessary to change THAT aspect of the game?? Sure there will be totally new maps and the game will have a different look, so the music has to be adapted. But changing a successful part of the game, by using different composers is a risk in my opinion, and not neccessary either.

I'm pretty sure if you had a large library of RPGs, touched a Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana) game, played FFXI, a Xenogear/Saga game or any Front Mission games...you'd think otherwise.

Nope. Ew nope. I prefer what we have now over generic mediocre orchestrated ost #72915. I like the fact that FF titles are breaking away from that, because it was never really even their thing.
Well everyone has their own tastesAs long as the music suits 2.0 well, I've got nothing to complain about.

The actual FFXIV composer is Masayoshi Soken , he's surprising me pleasantly with each patch and fit perfectly where they have to and have the FF feel required.

Masayoshi Soken, I think I'll make it a point to track down some more of his work if it's out there. I'm really liking what he's doing with the music in the game so far. Shows how much I've been paying attention. I thought Nobuo-san was the one still holding the reigns of the music involved.
Let's see what else I can get a hold of here.
Edit:
Well, that would explain the organs and the guitar. Jazz, Rock, and Orchestral music are his specialties and he's been doing a wide variety of things.
Here's what I read: http://www.squareenixmusic.com/compo...en/index.shtml

Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
