Another thing. You can go ahead and play Final Fantasy XI right herre ----> http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml Enjoy and Goodbye!Alright time for a honest calculation (Of those who visit the forums at least) of how players feel about what this game is shaping into. I am tired of hearing the excuse that this generation of MMO's *has* to casualize to work. I'm curious to see how many of their paying players right now agree.
Like this post if you wish for
~A return to longer EXP requirements. (3+ months per Job at the low end)
~More difficult enemies (Party focuses on a single target instead of 4)
~EXP penalty for Death
~Level capped instances (If you want to do content at a lower level you can't blam through it with a 50)
~Return to the basic job/subjob system and Iconic names
~More Job utility outside of combat (Whm teles, Blm Warp II, Thf treasure Hunter, ect)
~Auction Houses and centralized markets which can be access from a primary city (We don't quite have a Jueno but we will soon I imagine)
More importantly. These highlight examples aside. Do you want the Devs to create a game that will truly challenge the player base? That forces close bonds with friends and makes every day you play memorable? To stop creating in shortcuts for those unwilling to put in the effort?
~~~Don't forget to make your voice heard for Roegadyn tails! Fight the power and what have you.~~~
Within the first 10 words of this thread I stated this was of the forum goes only. As for stupid and bias, those are like your opinions man. I also already stated that I don't even have the fleeting notion that this thread will change the game in any way shape or form. I did not create it to change Yoshi's mind. I made it because I wanted to see how many people want Hardcore Vs. Casual renditions of FFXIV's future.You're outright asking, in your first post, if people want the devs to create something and to make the game different. What other reason would you have for creating such a poll if not to show "Well devs this is what people want, you should probably do it." ?More importantly. These highlight examples aside. So when we are talking among ourselves and someone says, "People want easier content" or "Fans of the series demand single mob fights!" there is a reference of that opinion. As it sits I'd say we're divided right up the gut between people who want FFXI back with an updated graphics engine and some new ideas and those who want an entirely new MMO which strays from the original's ball to the walls why-would-you-play-this-voluntarily difficulty.
the problem has been the entire time though is 2 fold.So when we are talking among ourselves and someone says, "People want easier content" or "Fans of the series demand single mob fights!" there is a reference of that opinion. 1. with the way the poll was worded it directs people to either choose option 1 or they are completely stupid. thank goodness some people can still think for themselves or your poll would be 120-0 with its wording.
2. the poll did not give an option for a combination of both and i think people on both extremes are in the minority. it's been pointed out repeatedly in this thread that alot of people want some things from xi, but like some things from xiv more. i still think this is the route in which the game should be taken. i can bet you that there's people that voted one way or another just because there's more of what they want in one list than the other, but doesn't agree with everything in either list.
for example i agree with you on the longer time to level, the tougher mobs, and to an extent the more outside of battle utility. i would still vote for the second option if i was forced to choose because i think xiv has more right now than it has wrong at this point. it does still need alot more work to get it to where i'd say it was in a completed state in any part of the game though.
What i don't get is why in order to make an MMO better it has to become XI-2? Is XI the best MMO out there? The most popular? Are all other companies stealing everything from XI? How many XI clones have you seen lately? Are we forced to replicate a game only cuz the same company made it? Seriously... of all MMO out there, why should we take ideas from XI?
In the end people want an mmorpg that works. An mmorpg without any kind of forgiving system for newly joining players is not one that ultimately works to serve its purpose as an mmorpg.
With that said, I doubt sincerely that it SE tries to take us back to XI principles that this game will be able to thrive at all effectively and before long an Abyssea like answer and F2P with cash shop will be the only answer the dev team can come up with.
FFXI was super successful you don't need 1mil subs to make profit, just saying.
