Pictomancer is absurd

ACN/SMN/SCH use a book as their main weapon which I think is closer to the silly side. It’s hard to look serious in cutscenes when WoL opens their book menacingly at an Ascian, or a rampaging goobbue, or a Garlean legatus. At least the paintbrushes somewhat resemble staves used by BLM and WHM and one BLM staff is indeed a paintbrush.

Back in ARR I think I remember as a SMN main being in melee range in coils so I could hit the enemy with my book for more DPS, which looked as goofy as it sounds. They also summon cutesy carbuncles and faeries.

I think after it’s released most people will get over the shock of it and it’ll be just as normal as ACN/SMN/SCH are now.

Kek, I laughed. Yep, there are definitely classes that look more serious in cutscenes. That said, it all comes down to one thing: the grimoire is ancient. Once again, it's a pretty standard weapon (dnd, which ff is heavily inspired by).

... Except when your character uses it to knock out an ascian, I agree.

But at the end of the day, once again the ‘debate’ (or exchange of opinion here, no doubt) gets sidetracked. The fact that the PIC is original isn't a problem. On the contrary! I can only speak for myself, but when I heard it was going to be the next job, my reaction was: ‘oh. That's... Super cool!’ It's original, and it's bloody brilliant to have a job that's all about bringing images to life. It's got a bit of a philosophical side to it that I was really into at first.

This is an amazing showcase! While I am not suggesting SE copy this, it would be nice if they would refine the spells we saw to look a bit nicer from a VFX standpoint. They were by no means bad, actually, I was quite impressed with how nice they looked, but I would still hope they get around to polish it a bit more.

Regardless, fully disagree with the OP. I am excited for Pictomancer! This Job was a Job I didn't know I wanted, but after I saw it, I wanted it like chocolate! After theorising about what the second job could be, the moment I heard about Pictomancer I was sold. Like come on, a Job that can materialise your drawings into reality by using aetheric ink, and carefully weaving the ink with whispered incantations to bring your art to life! That sounds so cool!!!!
And in all fairness, we do not have any job that fits the cute aesthetic. We have Edgy (as previously stated by a lot of people in this thread), but we also have the Gunslinger, Eastern Warriors, Royal Magic, The Knight, etc. None of our current jobs fit the "cute" aesthetic, and I find Picto as a breath of fresh air, can't wait to play it.
For the people disappointed, keep in mind that you were not forgotten since Viper offers an alternative from cute to warrior. And if Viper is not good either, well... there are 17 other jobs to choose from, at least one should be to your taste.
