I mean, it honestly looks like PIC is the only other caster besides BLM that actually has to cast. We're gonna wait and see, of course, but so far I love it. The whole fantasy really is appealing to me as well for some reason. Let other people have stuff too, it's not like they're taking away from you in order to make PIC happen.

I'm not a fan of pictomancer wouldn't call it "absurd" but as someone who enjoys casters (summoner doesn't count anymore), it was certainly not what i wanted, I was hoping we get a consistent stone/areo user personally.
Eh it's ff14 job design anyway and a new job at that sadly it's not something to get hyped about eitherway.

That's my thinking as well. It was time for a full caster. Although, I'm not sure we really need any more full jobs after DT's release. I mean, looking at the various armor names like Slaying, Striking, etc... where would it be needed?
We're filled to the brim!
People want Geomancer but that's just Astrologian all over again.
Maybe Green Mage but CBU3 has shown a dislike for DoTs. They've designed everything around a 2 minute burst window and a job built around DoTs doesn't fit within that paradigm. It's too bad, my favorite class in WoW was the Affliction Warlock. Playing a job in FFXIV which allows me to DoT up my enemies, place conditional buffs and mitigation on my friends, without any healing spells would be interesting.
i can see the resemblance , also reminds me of that weird painter class Aion released back in....2017? maybe?..I honestly think Picto is more based on Griseo from Honkai Impact 3rd. But hey, Final Fantasy 6 had it first!

why is WoW living rent free inside your heads?

i will continue to upgrade my characters jobs gear and wait to the new content goes live then play and decide how these new jobs are and don't care about these hate baiting trolls who pick a fight with everything on these forums

I'm not a fan of the concept, either. Even less of a fan of the spell effects that have been shown so far. Unless it turns out to be super fun, I just won't play it. Not the only job I don't play because it doesn't appeal to me, though. Just a little disappointed we got it over some of the more interesting sounding jobs.
That said, I guess it will finally get me to completely turn off other players' spell effects. Miss me with this Splatoon looking stuff. It looks horrendous.
Yeah, the Vandal/Painter. However if you look at the concept art of that class, it actually looked like a cool idea.
But what instead they got was a class that's shooting paint from some round rings on their hands. I think the devs mentioned it would've been harder to implement class based on the concept art? I can't remember.

Yeah the spell effects are pretty ugly, i wish we could turn off certain jobs effects, I wouldn't mind it if it was more fitting but the Job just looks out of place effect wise. What annoys me the most is this is likely the last DPS caster we will get for a long while (if not ever) it feels... wasted on a job that doesn't appeal to me what so ever.I'm not a fan of the concept, either. Honestly? I mean, I'm not sure I understand how the concept of Pictomancer is "absurd" when you think about some of the other jobs in context? I mean....
- Bard: sing songs to buff allies/debuff enemies
- Dancer: Dance at your enemies to buff allies
- Reaper (already referred to): Be an edgelord at your enemies
- Dark Knight: Look at my massive sword OF eDgElOrDnEsS. LOOK AT IT!
- Astrologian: D-d-d-duel!
Well, you get my point.
