pictomancer is literally a pre-existing FF job lol, it existed way before FFXIV.

Calling it a preexisting job is a stretch. The only character that was called a Pictomancer was Relm. And she was a glorified Blue Mage reskin. The only other appearance that you could argue was in Bravely Defaut II. And that rendition was... much less cheerful of an aesthetic.

Why?
The idea of mages who use pictures for attacks isnt new (only rare, with Sai from Naruto or Rill from Black clover).
The idea even existed allready in the omega raid.

Its actually a nice idea, to use that part of magic power. And lore wise is it a good magic for someone, who want to entertain the people (the other schools doesnt look right for that purpose).
The question will only be, how its works from the mechanic.

It's not really the same thing, but Ado/Adeleine from the Kirby games can also paint things on a canvas that then become real. With a paintbrush in one hand and paint palette in the other.

Agreed. He's really been off since the 4.0 gutting healers took. From that to FF16's bareboned, boring mechanics to this pictocrap! Can we get some fresh talent? Please?
