Well you said it yourself. You don't do savage, so by all means us getting more dps options doesn't affect you. So you really shouldn't complain about getting thing that you were never going to use in the first place.
Okay so the point of the argument is I like the amount of damage healers do, I don’t want to do any more, however I would like the way damage is dealt by healers to be more interesting while still retaining my identity as a healer, I’d also like oGCD bloat cut and more heals returned that have a choice attached (such as dissipation), so I am both healing more because I have to make more choices but also doing what damage I can in a more interesting way
What class exists that fills that fantasy for me…………..none of them, we have 4 healers and they all fill the same fantasy, nor does changing to a DPS assist me at all because my core class fantasy is still to be a healer, but I also want to do interesting damage as a healer
We’ve gone over this 0497502868106927 times at this point, the people in this thread are 99.9% HEALER mains but we are unsatisfied with the way our kits work, how does playing a DPS remotely solve this issue
I dont have anything against dps of healing, i just made a opinion based in my experience as healer that i played so far. I think that would make things more dificult for me but if you enjoy in way diferent than mine who am i to stop you? Besides i can give my opinion and say my experience they way i like and fell confortable. Just because some disagree, doent mean i should be silenced.
My experiences have been pretty damn boring. It was a lot more fun when I had to multitask for example when I was an astro in ucob in stormblood and I had to manage cards, dps, AND place markers down for the best place to put divebombs. SE has slowly been taking that away.
Sigh. Mate, saying people can play other thing has been said... Maybe a billion time ?
Sorry if my message was taken the wrong way: I didn't mean that you, as a person, were stupid. But that the argument itself seemed to have been thrown out a bit quickly, without much thought.
Many answers have already been given:
- Pleasure in playing the supporting role, which no class really brings to FF outsides of healers.
- Many people also play dps; we're not in a game where restricting yourself to a single role is necessary. So to say that people who complain about healers "should play dps" is rather... Inconsistent?
- And finally, the fact that switching classes won't solve the underlying problem. Here, that the design of the healers, combined with that of the encounters, poses a real gameplay problem within this role.
The somewhat hasty answer that "all the person has to do is play dps" is also a bit hasty in the sense that, given the evolution of the game, it seems difficult to me to evolve towards pure healer. It's much more likely that we'll be moving towards a support role. In fact, we're already there... But without all the complexity usually associated with these roles. Healers are still healers, but a game that conceives them as supports and rezzes on legs, which results in a bastard thing... And boring as hell to play in 90% of its content.

No problem dear!Sigh. Mate, saying people can play other thing has been said... Maybe a billion time ?

Why do you come to the conclusion that when people want to play a healing role -- which combines both healing and DPS in the current gameplay -- to be forced to go move to a dps role if they just want more dps skills to do when they don't have anything to heal?
Why not just give both DPS and healing? If there's a DPS job where you can actively control how you heal like current healers with a more diverse DPS rotation for engagement, I'll play it. Just name the job.
RDM and SMN isn't it. RDM can't Vermedica and SMN can't control phoenix healing when they need it because it's melded into their DPS rotation. DNC have long cooldowns gating their healing and cannot use them on demand and do not possess raise. To my knowledge, none of the other DPS jobs have reliable on-demand healing that you want to use actively either.
So if you're going to tell me to go play a healer if I want to heal, we're back at Square 1, which is asking for more dps skills on a healer.
The simplest reasoning should be that if tanks get to have a semi-interesting DPS rotation, then healers should as well.
XIV's healers contributing significantly more DPS then in other MMOs is not a good thing when it's mostly indicative of there not being enough to actually heal through. Healers in the average MMO tend to have more offensive buttons, but seldom actually get the breathing room to use them which ends up making their ability to contribute damage much more nuanced and satisfying when it's done properly.
