I wish they were more creative with achievements. I liked the ones in WoW where you had to do something weird during a battle that often made it harder. Or the many bizarre event achievements.

Was my enjoyment for earning Castle in the Sky less because others cheated? No, because I put honest effort into earning it every step of the way.
It's the other players' problem if they earned something through cheating because they're not competent enough to get it otherwise. In the end, they achieved nothing.
People are doing it wrong if they're measuring the value of what they do by what cheaters do.
Yeah i'll never understand why people are so hyper fixaited on what others do and how in XIV. This is the only game I've seen where players care more about themselves then others but at the same time hyper focus on what others are doing. Was my enjoyment for earning Castle in the Sky less because others cheated? Even if there are no rewards, they need to be fun to do. Perhaps I am wrong, but aren't most achievements either "You completed X thing" or "You did thing 1/5/10/100/1000+ times"? It doesn't really make me go "Oh thats interesting/That could be fun!"
The reward is bragging to the thousands of woman I talk to everyday. The ladies love the achievements![]()
There are some achievements that just scare me to get (looking at you Accursed Hoard), but I like the feeling of grinding an achievement out. I do wish that some of them came with more than just a pop-up and some points to a shop that only has 30 items, which I have most of minus the three I mention below.
Three you have to unlock via Mahjong or Fishing or Ocean Fishing achievements. I just learned about the framing kits there as I was typing this.
I'm glad they expanding the achievements with the framing kits, but I still wish there were more.
"I have a type, white-haired anime men who will eventually betray me."
It's the same when people clear ultimates. Automatically, you've been carried even if, like, let's say you're a streamer. You literally streamed all your prog, but you got carried. It's so stupid. Just play the game and shut up. Worry about you. Hell, I'm not super good at the game, and I did a BA run in Eureka, and my old FC mate asked me, "How much did it cost?" And I was like,"Nothing. I joined a discord and joined a run and listened to the voice chat." It's so dumb.
Btw. BA is super easy to do if you are reading this and you're worried about doing it.

You are correct and I understand anyone who is not interested in them or looks at them and thinks that doesn't look fun or interesting. As someone who collects achievements in every game that I play, this one has me questioning myself all the time because a lot of them are not fun nor are they intresting.
I agree, I dont care about the rewards but I do care about the structure and innovation of achievements. Currently, there is none and it doesn't feel good to complete most of the achievements in ffxiv to me. I just have because I have played for so long and people will be like hey it's you. I usually respond hello? cause I am confused because it means little to nothing to be ranked high on my server for achievements because these achievements are complete shit.
I hear this thrown around a lot but it's a niche group of people that do achievements enough to keep them sub. Myself being one of them, will stay subbed no matter what. I have for 10+ years now. I don't think it excuses the repetitive, boring structure that they have going on where every achievement is just x times a number and usually a high number that doesn't make you feel good about it in the end or insane achievements that take 7+ years to complete. If achievements are supposed to help keep people subbed and they see they have 7+ years minimum to get every achievement due to time-gated achievements attached to a dull repetitive task. I don't think it inspires people to get into it in the first place. They are just doing achievements completely wrong. If they want to force us to stay subbed then do an achievement that makes you do a certain task every month for a whole year. I don't think this is a good design but it's a lot better than x10k achievement or x20k that just encourages botting.
