but what is better? a lot of the repeated discussion is, what i want is objectively better and what you want is objectively worse.
then everyone goes in circles and there is no understanding between the groups at all.
I think more playable content is objectively better than watching some cutscenes and getting some weapons for free. Things like Relic weapons quests can keep the game active during drought months (Which is looking to be around 6 to 7 months this time around), the ShB relics made use of almost all the old content, so if you wanted a nice looking weapon you had the content to play through it. Added two massive zones, one raid instance, lost actions and a progression system people got lost in.
Here the problem is that the mid-core people are angry because they took a whole sizeable part of the experience away, and the casual people are like "Why are you asking for these weapons to be harder to get? Like just do some dailies, get your relic weapon and then log off and play something else". Square Enix cut corners on Endwalker, and the issue here is a lot of people (I'm on that side) don't want them for this to be the standard.
the relics have never added content heck the content you're talking about didnt even require you to get the weapons. if players want exploration content they can ask for that content and not ask for relics to be slapped into it for no reason.I think more playable content is objectively better than watching some cutscenes and getting some weapons for free. i can't say SE has cut corners this expansion because before sb or shb exporation content didnt exist and the relics were literally just go grind dead content.
i don't feel anyone has said the grind for the relics were hard just annoying and boring or for people to just grind some tomes and log off.
as a new spin on the question maybe it could change the answer or maybe its just how you want the relic to be specifically.
why does the relic have to be a boring grind slapped onto already made content with no real substance to what it's put into and not something new good and interesting actually based around the relic weapons?
i have said it before but i don't feel people are against a relic grind they are against what is has been this whole time which is a fake time waster added to resources they already made and instead of just slapping the relic onto the content they made like normal they just didn't and other than the people who wanted exploration content or a grind added it's had positive results.
The biggest disappointment with the current version of relics is just the complete lack of satisfaction once finished.
When you finished a relic from previous expansions, you at least felt something. Now, I can get the tomes I need for an upgrade at the same time as I just get my weekly tomes capped.
I literally don't have to change a single thing in how I play and I get a relic. That's boring AF and doesn't make me want to even do it. I mean I have 15 of the newest upgrade item just sitting in my inventory. And I have weapons to upgrade. I just don't care.
As for why relics are good to combine with other content? Grinds are boring by nature. If you combine 2 grinds, it gives way more of an incentive to actually do it.
Why peoples so much wanting grindings? Isn't grindings by definition just repetitive actions? If want example of truly epic questings, just has to looks at Skyscale quest in GW2. Is many parts, each of which made up of many smaller subquests. All has context and much funs.
This is definitely the best part of this new one yeah, it's so freeing to be able to pick the things you find fun and run those instead of being forced to run content you don't like for 100 runs because the step says to, or being forced to grind out 30 hours of an exploration zone to unlock the next part becasue they tied those 2 pieces of content together and can't separate them for some weird reason.
If I want to run variant dungeon or run hunts, I can. It might not be the fastest way but it's more fun when it's my way than hating the grind and just chasing the shortest path through content I hate. Everything at 90 gives progress so you don't feel like you're being held back on it for playing the things you find fun.

"instead of doing a few hunt trains which is 2 hours of time, I will go to the slowest path possible because I want to do what I want even though it's a million times slower, surely that makes for good content !"
We need to get you some english lessons asap my man. There is no way in hell that's what you got from me saying I like playing the content I like even if it's not technically the fastest way.
So in other words, I don't wanna change a thing in how I play and still get relics for it.This is definitely the best part of this new one yeah, it's so freeing to be able to pick the things you find fun and run those instead of being forced to run content you don't like for 100 runs because the step says to, or being forced to grind out 30 hours of an exploration zone to unlock the next part becasue they tied those 2 pieces of content together and can't separate them for some weird reason.

That's literally what the current relic is.
Grinds can be fun when you enjoy what you're being asked to do.Why peoples so much wanting grindings? Isn't grindings by definition just repetitive actions? Feeling forced into doing things you don't particularly enjoy, or that you enjoy in small amounts but not when you need to repeat them dozens of times, removes the fun.
This time we each had the choice to make the farm something fun to our individual tastes but evidently makes the process less satisfying to those who need to feel like they were forced to be satisfied or who automatically choose efficiency over fun for the sake of getting their reward faster.
Perhaps some players don't.
Those who want to change how they play to get the relic had options to do that.
Again, we run into the difficulty of players having different ideas about what a relic is. Some only see it as fun glamour, others see it as a symbol of effort.
